We were excited to find an asperger specialist, however Mark Foster's approach did not work for us. We came for help with a specific situation and were not seeking a new diagnosis. However, he insists on doing a full evaluation - taking up several sessions - before he will do any therapy. Teens are in a very sensitive time socially and mine was getting upset at the extensive questions. He was feeling that the dr was concerned more about finding out what is "wrong" with him and less concerned about helping him or making a connection. We talked to Dr Foster about this and he was unwilling to accept his existing diagnosis and insisted on doing his own evaluation, even though it was upsetting his patient. We asked if we could just start by them getting to know each other and having some more less formal sessions, then when they were more comfortable with each other we could think about a fuller evaluation. He was absolutely inflexible on this. It was more important for him to follow his set agenda than follow the needs of his patient.

Because of this experience my son has been super resistant to seeing someone. It has been almost a year and he is just now starting to be open to this. It is shame that we have lost all that time.
