She gave absolutely no evaluation for me and just assumed I suffered from depression because I had been starting to see a therapist. Every appointment was extremley awkward and tense and were always over with in 3-5 minutes after the 45 minute drive there. Not to mention if we had to miss an appointment, she would be like fine, then come back in 5 months. Excuse me? My parents and I didn't know that we had to change because we were just like "well, I guess the purpose of the therapist is to be the one that listens to my needs and problems and the purpose of the psychologist was to just sign the scripts" for my medication. It was not until after two years of this nonsense and my admission to a psyhiatric hospital after suicide attempts along with those years full of self injury, trauma, and substance abuse, that we realized that we were very, very wrong. While I was in inpatient hospitilization, I was assigned to another physichiatrist, Dr. Abdullah Sallaj (who I strongly recommend to anyone). My first night there, he spent up to an hour trying to get to know me, in a comfortable, conversation like (unlike robot-like Belford) and evaluating my symptoms as well as my personality. Turns out I'm BIPOLAR and was not only misdiagnosed, but but on Lexapro, an anti-depressant alone. An anti-deppressant with no mood stabilizer with it makes the symptoms of bipolar WORSE. Not only did I spend time and money on her appointments, the $50 refills of medicine that WORSENED my condition, but I allowed Dr. Belford to ruin 2 years of my life, making terrible desicions during manic episodes, damaging relationships, getting poor grades, etc. I honestly believe she ruined those 2 years. I have had a follow up appointment with Dr. Sallaj and he takes the time to talk and actually listens and adjusts my medications to my needs. I can tell that he genuinley cares and I have trust in him more than I'd ever have with Dr. Belford. She seems to be ruining peoples lives simply for a paycheck. I ended up in a hospital but luckily for me, found great doctors there that made me realize things I didn't realize before. I am furiated to tears. I would not recommend her to my greatest enemy.

Dr. Belford has always treated me with respect and listened to my concerns. She is very good about getting back to me on the phone when I call. My only complaint is that she does see hospital patients at a very early hour and that if you do not wake up you may be very groggy and forget to ask about things.

Totally disregarded my voice! DId not listen to me, took the opinions of another clinician who was stressed because he didn't know how to care for me due to his lack of experience in eating disorders. Made false accusations based on what other staff told her, then when she found out the the truth she blew if off, couldn't even say I'm sorry! Lied to other clinicians. Spoke of my situation without my permission! While hospitalized came in at 5am, spoke while I was groggy for 2 maybe 3 minutes or would talk with me at the breakfast table with other patients right next to me, NO consideration for privacy! Cold personality.
