I can honestly say that I have never met a more incompetent and rude doctor who could not care less for her patients. She spent the majority of the appointment talking about herself and how her mobile app for her practice is so great. It felt like a sales pitch or personal ad. I could deal with that if she hadn't called in the wrong prescription for me twice and then berated me to the point where I was in tears about how that was my fault. I came very prepared to my appointment with a list of the medications that my insurance covers. She proceeded to prescribe me to something that was not on that list and I was forced to pay $60 for what ended up being the wrong medication. To try to rectify this, I spent hours on the phone with the pharmacy and my insurance company, only to find out that she had called it in incorrectly. When I called back to Dr. Prewitts office to get this corrected, she/her staff called in the wrong prescription AGAIN. It wasnt until I got the head pharmacist on the phone at Walgreens (who was actually very helpful), who confirmed that the doctor had called it in incorrectly again, that I was able to resolve this. Dr. Prewitts office staff was nice and helpful, but her nurses are just as incompetent as she is. However, at least they didnt interrupt me and berate me on the phone. I had a very mediocre experience while in the office and a truly terrible one when I went to get my prescription filled. The only silver lining is that getting an appointment was very easy and the wait time was minimal. Of course, that makes sense because she's just a mean woman and didn't have any other patients to take care of that day, apparently. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for an OBGYN goes elsewhere.

Maryann Prewitt is a poor excuse for a doctor. She runs her office through intimidation of her staff and patients. She is a greedy egomaniac who will waste your time. With each appointment I waited over 45 minutes to even see her. While having a gynecological procedure done I was told I needed to have some suspicious moles removed. It turns out it was all cosmetic and she was trying to sell me on her day spa treatments. When I questioned it she yelled at me and said I would have to pay for a missed appointment fee and told me to leave and refused to give me the results of the actual surgery I had done 2 weeks prior which I am very worried about--for her to tell me it would be another $35 for an appointment. She is an absolute monster and should not be allowed to practice.

Don't put your health in the hands of this woman. One minute she's friendly, the next minute she's screaming at you! She is only interested in hearing herself talk and constantly interrupts you when you ask questions or try to say something. RUN if she tells you that you need surgery! She makes GROSS errors, forgets to have you sign life-saving documents, then takes NO responsibility for her mistakes. She is a dangerous, emotionally unstable person with no concern for your well-being - only in inflating her own ego.

Dr. Prewitt is emotionally unstable IMO. When I questioned her treatment plan she screamed at me and threw me out of her office. The next Dr. I went to see assured me that the surgery that Dr Prewitt recommended was unnecessary and indeed that has been proven true. She is not only rude and unprofessional - but a quack.

She was horrible, rude and incompetent. A psychiatrist might add "unstable" to that list. Worst experience with a doctor in my life. I was having heavy bleeding and going through perimenopause. After the exam she first sent me for some blood tests and a sonogram. I took my adult daughter with me to the next appointment. She asked her: "Are you good at taking care of your mom? Because she's a mess". My daughter and I were both petrified. Then she proceeded to tell my daughter all of my results, enumerating my "masses" and their size (fibroids, benign I later found out) and that I am diabetic and anemic. She talked to my daughter as if I wasn't there, then said I needed to have a full hysterectomy vaginally the following week. She prescribed high-dose iron supplements for the anemia. We came back for the next visit following Monday- waiting in her office we overheard her phone conversation with a patient in the next room - arguing loudly 20 mins. about a drug she had prescribed that another doctor said was very harmful for her health condition. She finally came into her office and said in a snide, nasty tone: "That woman has breast cancer and she is questioning my prescription," which I thought VERY unprofessional of her. Anyway, back to us - she said requires a mammogram and pap smear prior to any surgery. She adamantly denied saying that she would be doing the surgery that week when I asked her how I was supposed to have gotten that done over the weekend. She said my blood test had come back showing glucose level of 99 and I said I had eaten lunch right before I had the blood drawn, she argued that she always tells patients to fast for 12 hrs before the test and ALWAYS WRITES it on their test order form. I handed her a copy of the form and asked her to show me where it was written. She flew into a subdued rage and said she was releasing me as her patient and had her secretary write a letter to that effect to give to me on my way out the door. I had already decided by this time I wouldn't continue under her care anyway. As we walked to the reception area she was yelling at my back "YOU NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY!!" repeating it three times. My daughter asked the receptionist if Dr. Prewitt always acts that way or if she by chance forgot to take her medication that day. The staff said nothing and seemed as scared of her as we were. I went to Dr. John Bertrand (highly recommend him) soon after and it was like day and night. He did a sonogram right there in his office, sent me for CA-125 test and did an endometrial biopsy to rule out cancer. As he did the sonogram he explained that the "masses" were actually fibroids that are harmless and estrogen-driven growths, saying that once I reached menopause they would probably disappear altogether. He did not push for surgery but commented that if Dr. Prewitt had planned to do a vaginal hysterectomy it would be a challenge since my uterus was enlarged. He calmed the intense fears that I felt after my unfortunate dealings with Dr. Prewitt. My advice: Stay away from this one!!

Maryann Prewitt is a poor excuse for a physician. The only thing she is interested in is "her". She prescribed a medication to me that the FDA is doing continual testing on and when I told her about a significant problem with the medication, her comment to me was "that's not true". I've spoken to the manufacturer of the medication as well as to the FDA, and both state that the problem DOES exist and I should stop using the medication, however, apparently Maryann Prewitt thinks they are BOTH incorrect. Her arrogance and inability to see past her own face, is dangerous and I wouldn't recommend her to anyone!

Dr. Prewitt is more concerned with selling her spa services and multi-level product than most anything.
I don't believe that Doctors should be able to sell any product as it creates a bias and subjective recommendations.
There is a clear conflict of interest when the doctor is selling skin care and a multi-level product!
AND...a Doctor should never discuss that they are not making any money as a Doctor, claiming to have made only $40k from her practice and most of her income comes from the spa.
I wish I would have found this site prior to my visit!
I see doctors with much better ratings and comments.
Good luck to you and hope this helps!

If I could give her zero stars, I would. PLEASE, don't go to her. She hates her profession and it shows. She goes from "fake" nice to sharp tongued at a moments notice. There are so many other doctors...please take care of yourself and go somewhere else. Please.

I highly recommend Dr. Maryann Prewitt! I'm always very comfortable with the office visit. I was quite disappointed when she moved from Richardson to Plano, but I like her so much that I still travel the distance once a year to make a visit.
