This was very convenient. I requested my appointment online, and the doctor came to my apartment so I did not have to take the whole day off of work. I've avoided my diabetes care for a while because it takes so much effort to manage going from specialist to test to nutritionist.
Raymond Zakhari, NP reviewed my files online, drew my blood during the visit. I was able to follow up with him by web camera as he gave me my results, and was able to help me control my blood sugars. He is also great at reducing the number of medications I was told to to take. Now my diabetes care is manageable. The technology allows me to speak to him when it is convenient. I don't have to take the day off of work, and he even arranged for me to have most of my test done in my apartment too. That way I can work from home. The one down side he does not take insurance for the visits, but the tests and medications were covered. I highly recommend Metro Medical Direct if your looking for a convenient family practitioner.

I was very sick one day and being in healthcare I could not afford to take the day off as my own patients would not be seen. A nurse that works for me mentioned to me about a Nurse Practitioner that made house calls. As a physician I was

I've been to several doctors over the years to treat a condition that turns out is more common than I had realized. While embarrassing to write about I feel that I should at least let people know that there is help out there given how difficult it was to find a legit health care professional to do it.
The condition is chronic prostatitis and the standard treatment is usually 6-12 weeks of antibiotics, a year of flomax, and some Advil. This does not work for a good number of guys myself included. My urologist then said I'd have to learn to live with it, and he could refer me to a pain management specialist. (At 30 years old the last thing I want to do is be on medication forever).
I did my own research and found out that prostate massage used to be the gold standard for this condition. I asked my urologist he said it may work for some, but no one does it anymore because insurance does not pay for it.
Most people doing this seem to be some front for another kind of "professional".
He is a real medical professional who does medical house calls in Manhattan, and was able to do this treatment. It was a bit costly (but I did get some money back on my out of network benefit) and I was able to use my FSA card.
It's been 6 months since I finished the 8 week treatment, I have not taken an Advil or another antibiotic or Flomax. I'm pain free. Those of you that have had or have this know exactly what I mean. No need to suffer guys.

First of all, I hate going to doctors, but after 3 weeks of a persistent sore throat I finally broke down and saw someone. I was a little skeptical of a Nurse Practitioner at first but my wife convinced me it would be a good idea.
All I can say is that Ray is great. I filled out all the information on a secure site. He came to my office in downtown Manhattan. Everything was very professional, and discrete. He was much more attentive than any doctor I had ever seen.

He even performed a physical on me since I was already paying for a visit. He drew blood and did a throat culture. Very convenient.

Bottom line: if you are a busy professional and want a very convenient and competent professional to give you sound medical care, Metro Medical Direct is well worth it.
The one down side is he does not take any insurance but I was able to use my FSA, and I did get an appointment the next day.
