Started with a small chip on lower corner of top front tooth. After a couple of failed repairs, a crown was advised. The tooth was then crowned. Within a couple months an irritation had developed above the crown in the gum. This irritation would come and go. In the meantime I had moved to Florida. Over the next several months the irritation became more severe. The problem consisted of an inflamed gum around the crown area and pain. Upon seeing a new dentist he advised the crown had been done badly. It was pushed in too far and damaging the bone above it and the top edge was not tapered correctly. Instead of a smooth transition to the original tooth, there was an abrupt edge (described to me as a "shelf") and the crown was also pushed in too far and contacting the bone. The top edge was also accumulating plaque up under the gum. The new dentist said my body was trying to reject the crown. A $1600 surgery was required to correct the mess. I nearly lost the tooth. I would NOT recommend this dentist to anyone based on my bad (and VERY expensive experience).
