I have seen this dentist a few times for extractions and I used to think he was ok. However, my appointment yesterday made it very clear he is NOT a good dentist.
Dr Mattingly has always been aware I am hiv+, yet began the appointment by asking "if I still have the virus".
I had several teeth pulled. I could taste the Novocaine and had to rinse my mouth from the awful taste three times. I complained that my cheek and nose felt numb but that my gums were not. ..He pulled it anyway. Words just cannot describe the pain.
After having 5 teeth pulled, he had me leave IMMEDIATELY. I was out the door under 5 minutes from the time he finished. Further, I was still heavily bleeding 6 hours later.
What I found disturbing is that he begins the appointment mentioning that he might give me stitches, but at the end, he left the room immediately after pulling the last tooth and never checked back. He was in the front looking at files when I left. He, (or his assistant) did not check how I was doing after the pull, nor did he ever explain why stitches were not given.

I WILL NOT GO BACK.
