Erie's VA is a nice place. It can be very busy, they see many different things and do the best they can. i feel it is a nice place to seek care, i find it not nearly as busy as the other local hospitals, unless you like to sit and wait with multiple other patients who are either seeking drugs or are on welfare and bringing in sick kids with a little cold... i myself have also waited over an hour to see my own doctor, and then am charged over a hundred dollars and still have to go to an outside clinic to have lab or xrays done!!!

The above pretty much says it all. You are lucky to get eye contact from the nurse practitioners- not many Docs- very busy, and herd you through like cattle is so true. Seems clinically poor simply due to being overworked. Be careful--- go to Hamot or St V's if possible.

While I wouldn't recommend this place per say, I will say that if you are a veteran and are in need of medical care and can't afford it then this is the place to go.

The reason I wouldn't recommend this place is that they misdiagnosed a simple problem my husband was having a few years ago and i ended up at the local emergency room with him. He had an abcess in a tooth and I don't know what it was that they gave him at the Veterans Hospital, but the following day he was so badly swollen that he couldn't breath. The infection had traveled to his throat and was causing his throat to swell shut. We were in the local E.R about an hour. They gave him some antibotics and the swelling went down.

He went back to the V.A to see what had happened and they told him that they weren't sure. How's that for an answer? They herd you through like cattle and are constantly wanting to send you to Pittsburgh for operations.

So, if you go be careful!

PROS: Close to home and free.
CONS: Not the greatest staff of Doctors.
