Dr Piel has been my doctor for many years and quite frankly, I like his dry sense of humor, he is honest and upfront, which is very important for any patient, I hope he does not retire anytime soon, he ia a great doctor and has always helped me and listened to me in my times of need!!

I have been going to Dr. Piel for many years. There have been a couple of times when I went to him about women's issues -perimenopause and fatigue due to hormonal issues and he was not familiar with them. In the most recent incident, he was very condescending and impatient. He treated me like I was an idiot. I will never step foot in his office again. It is sad as this is not the physician we, my son, husband, and I, were seeing severa years ago.

For those that had a bad experience...Dr. Piel has been my doctor for a very long time and well I have referred many others to him as well. When my son became an adult he also became his Doctor. No compliants, excpet I am always ill when he is on vacation. He has always spent time with me reviewing my history and yes, sometimes his sense of humor is dry but it his style. I am sorry others haven't had the same great Doctor patient relationship that I have had for 20 years. I would hate to see him retire...a good Doctor patient relationship takes sometime to build.

Unlike some of the reviews I read about Dr. Piel, I found him to be the best! I have been seeing him and Dr. Barnes (until she retired) since Ranchview Family Medicine literally first opened.
I found this man to be forthright and kind. If these people who are alot like people who live in the area of Highlands Ranch and expect someone who bends for their every wish as I found people to be in the area, that's why I moved after 15 years of H.R., then I suggest they find another Doctor. Dr. Piel if and when he decides to retire, I will miss him. There aren't that many good doctors left in this area. P.S. My husband and two daughters all have seen Dr. Piel throughout the years and you could not find a better General Practioner.

I also was a patient at Ranch View Family Medicine and had the unfortunate circumstance of being treated by Dr. Piel as my normal Dr. was not available that day. That day I went in to speak about my depression medication with my wife. At one point he asked me how much alcohol I consumed in a day. I responded that I had a few beers daily. Dr. Piel than had the nerve to ask my wife if I had ever beat her! After this visit, I never went to a Dr.'s appointment at Ranch View Family Medicine without ensuring that I would not have to see Dr. Piel. I agree - time to retire old man.

This doctor has no empathy and has lost his compassion for human beings, he's rude and treated me like I did something wrong. I went in to the Doctors office on a Friday after injuring my tail bone 2 days prior, and I saw a doctor that prescribed me Tramadol for the pain. Okay, so I follow the instructions, take 1 pill every 8 hours. these pills made my heart beat fast and I had tinnitus(ringing in my ears), I couldn't sleep and I felt like I drank 3 cups of coffee. I couldn't sleep for 24 hours. I called to have someone call me back on Saturday morning to see if this was normal. Dr. Michael T. Piel was the on call doctor, and I guess I really must have inconvienianced him because it took him 5 hours to finally get back to me. II told him what I was experiencing and I said I couldn't sleep, so he said he waould call something in. I called the farmacy to explain the situation and the Pharmasicts said Dr. Piel called in an anxiety medication. They said throw the medication away, I was having bad side effects and to call the dr. back to call me. So I called the dr. back, waited forever again and told him I don't have anxiety and I needed a pain medication that wouldn't make me feel like I was crawling out of my skin. His exact words"you told me you wanted something to make you sleep, and that's what I did, I'm not giving you anything else", the guy wouldn't even listen to me as I explained I don't want those pills, I don't feel comfortable taking them, and To give me something like Vicodin, so I can rest and have pain relief. Why would he let me keep taking these pills if I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack, then prescribe something that I'm not even supposed to take with tramadol. I seriouly could have seizures. Come on doc, get with it. So, needless to say I will be putting in complaint. He treated me like I was doing something wrong. Jack Ass!!! Retire already... Sincerly,Mishelle Brown
