If you would like to visit this office and you have a child that may be accompanying you at some of your appointments then please think twice about using this Dr!
I have a young child and occasionally he needs to come with me to my appointments. I have been asked if I could please find a babysitter because the Dr found him "distracting". The entire waiting room full of patients commented that this was rude.
Today, I had to bring my son to my appointment with me and I was asked to sit in another room with my toddler because Dr Elrafei thought it might make some patients nervous. Now, let me please tell all prospective patients that my son was strapped into his stroller with snacks, a movie and a game. He occasionally said "Momma!" or commented on the cartoon that he was watching, "doggie is blue" etc.
The Dr. Sent the receptionist to ask me to sit in another office to wait the usual 1+ hrs for my appt. The patients in the waiting room were appalled that I was asked this and actually made comments to the staff because they found my sons adorable and his comments made everyone laugh. I guess that is not a good thing at a psych office, laughing!
During my appt with the Dr his cell phone rang twice. The first time he listened to me while he navigated his iPhone. The second time he ended our appt to answer the call. This was the end of my rope. I waited for a few minutes and finally met the Dr in the hallway and said that I just needed to ask him a question.
I asked bluntly if it was a problem for him or anyone else on his office staff to have my son at my appt with me know now because I will need to find another dr. He said, YES. It is a problem for him. I was shocked but I have my loyalties and it is not to my psychiatrist! Unbelievable. My son will attend any and every appt and social occasion with me and if anyone has a problem with it then they have a problem because he is an adorable, sweet, bright, funny and amazing child.
This Dr. was nice at first but his bedside manner fades with time. Especially if you have a child.
