Dr. Seth took a lot of time to hear me out and seemed to be listening to my concerns. At first I was hopeful, but she quickly proved to have tunnel vision. She was so focused on the fact that I was overweight that she absolutely refused to believe that my problems could be due to anything else given that I am also fairly young. Any other possibilities for my extreme joint pain were chalked up to the stress the extra weight was putting on my skeleton. Really?!? I was only mildly overweight and even explained to her that I have an extremely high tolerance to pain, so this was no ordinary joint pain. Instead of ordering an x-ray for the issue I presented with, she insisted on ordering blood work, diabetes screening, and focusing primarily on my weight, ignoring the issue of highest concern to me, THE PATIENT.

I couldn't exercise sufficiently to lose weight because of the pain I was in and she implied that I wasn't doing all that I could. I finally saw another doctor who ordered the simple x-rays I needed to determine that I have a severe joint issue. Although it can't be fixed and will get worse as I age, I'm glad to finally know what's going on and have been able to change the types of exercises I do to lessen the impact on my degenerative joints.

In addition to Dr. Seth's obsession with my excessive weight, her nurse was downright cold. These women are both thin to the extreme, and I felt as though they both looked down on me for not being a member of the stick figure club. I am an active, well-informed person who presented some very basic facts and I was made to feel that I needed to take anti-depressants and just stop eating so much and everything would get better. If anything, this doctor delayed my healing (I've since started yoga and lost the extra pounds) and lowered my self-esteem further than it was when I walked through her door for the first time.
