Dr. Murinova is a highly intelligent, sensitive, caring physician who takes the time to get to know her patients and provide them optimum care and advice. I was referred to Dr. Murinova because she was a known expert in the headache field. At the time I met her a year ago, I was having almost daily migraines. Dr. Murinova promised me that I would be symptom-free in a year: She kept her promise. Through careful, personalized instruction and education, she made it possible for me to participate in a miraculous experience. No headaches! Schedule well in advance with her through the University of Washington.

Although she is a headache specialist, she knew almost nothing about severe Convergence Insufficiency (CI, which can cause headaches, double vision, and dizziness/vertigo especially when one does sustained near-vision work such as reading and writing) except for a very basic definition of it, even though it is a major cause of my near-constant headaches and vertigo. And, she didn't even bother to do a simple internet search about it. She completely ignored it, in spite of my being very vocal about it, and focused only on my MAV and classical migraines. The CI symptoms kept getting worse and worse and didn't respond at all to whatever she prescribed. One time she had the nerve to tell me that I need to get back to exercising, even though the CI was causing me so much vertigo and such severe headaches where that was no longer possible. Well, the CI eventually got to the point where I was no longer physically able to see her, as I don't have the blindness skills I need to be able to get around very well when my eyes give me so much trouble. When I called her office, they seemed baffled about why I had not seen her for over a year. (Well, I could if she would lead me around by the arm!) Well, come to find out, it appears that my severe CI might have been triggering my migraines all along. I wish she would have advocated for me to get the help I needed to deal with it, and help to somehow alleviate its nasty symptoms, and not just ignore it completely like it's a non-issue.

Business Response:

Dear Noel, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry that as a Neurologist specializing in Headaches, I don't have further training in Ophthalmology and Vision Therapy (different sub-specialty). As you know, I would be delighted to refer you to any other provider who has this expertise. If we can facilitate any referral please let us know.
