I would rate him zero stars if that were possible. He knows absolutely nothing, does not try to help, and is rude and arrogant on top of everything. First, I was told that the over the counter drugs I was taking was all that could be done for me. When I pushed him because I was in sever pain daily despite being taking tums nearly every half hour and prevacid and nexium daily, he gave me a variety of different drugs and pain pills, which only mad me sicker.

Eventually, I persuaded him to do an endoscopy; as a result, I was told that I had severe gastronomy and bleeding ulcers. When I inquired as to possible courses of treatment he claimed that nothing could be done, it was all due to stress and that if I stayed positive, the conditions would heal themselves. Needless to say, this was could not be further from the truth. I

remained in severe pain for years until finally finding a better doctor who was actually willing to help. If that was not enough, he refused to give my new doctor my medical records, claiming I never was a patient, I had to get a hold of his billing clerk personally, who finally released the records claiming it was a "system error."

I would not wish this doctor upon my worst enemy. Waste of thousands of dollars, but more importantly left me in pain.

This guy sent me an unreasonable-rip-off invoice($700)
1 year later after the operation-mistake in Aug ??10.
I went to his office in this Aug ??11 to dispute about wrong charge,
but he sent me another bill as ??office visit? for NOTHING.
$106.29 invoice is for literary NOTHING.
It doesn??t make any sense at all.
I was about to fight back by suing, but decide to pay instead.
because I won??t waste my time.
This guy is totally bullsh?t who has no knowledge about treatment.
I won??t sue him, but still keep fighting another special way.
I hope this comment will help to reveal his mistaken-treatment
and correspondence.

This GI doctor did identify and treat my condition with a favorable outcome. However, the bills that I received for the outpatient Upper GI endoscope which was performed in a Surgical Center that he has ownership in are $14,000. I have Aetna Insurance. Furthermore, there is an additional bill (excess of insurance - "balance billed") for $1,000 for a lab test? Really? $15,000 for a 20 minute proceedure? Something looks like it isn't on the up and up here.

I had an awful experience with this doctor. I was referred to him by my primary doctor and I made an appointment with him. They placed me in the room twenty minutes after I got there and then proceeded to wait another hour and a half to see the doctor. Yes an hour and a half. But I was the one who left the room looking for the doctor after no one came in and I saw him in his office with his feet on his desk just relaxing and I said to him hi i am your patient and i have been waiting for 2 hours to see you. He apologized and came into the room and all he said was okay lets do a colonoscopy. I didnt change into a room, he didnt poke and prode he just made me wait for two hours, talked to me for 5 minutes and just said lets do a colonoscopy. He also sent a bill for $300. He should be paying me for my waste of time and energy. I will never tell my friends to come see this doctor.

Caring, thorough and with excellent bedside manners. Put me at ease and was able to take care of my problems that I had learned to live with for years. And he is one of the few who still is in my network!..Very grateful

Should have done this a long time ago. Helped eased my pain and the fears of medical procedures and now that I know what is wrong because of his holistic and scientific approach I am able to manage my condition better.

Finally after a long struggle with my abdominal issues he was able to find out the problem and get rid of it. Thanks to his great expertise and new technology he succeeded where many others failed. Couldn't be happier.

Came in as a new patient last week because I had heard positive things about him as a Dr. His exam was thorough and I found him very caring.
THEN..... it came time for the needle I literally felt like I was a pin cushion!! It took his nurse 3 TIMES to find my vein!! Which has NEVER happened before!!!! I literally could not bend my arm for a week!! This will never happen to me again. I would certainly go and see him again but......... if I had to get poked by her again I would RUN out of the office.

Has to be the best GI doc in town. Nobody could figure out my intestinal ailments until he diagnosed my "irritable bowel" as bacterial overgrowth with a breath test in his office. After a short course of antibiotics I am back to my old happy self. Recommended Dr. K to all my friends!

Very smart man. Direct in his diagnostic approach and excellent bedside manners. Endoscopy was a piece of cake and the pillcam technology is amazing. Should have gone earlier. Recommended without reservations!

Refreshing experience. After seeing and being "treated" by other doctors and clinics I can say without reservation that he has been the most helpful for my condition. He accepted my insurance and even worked through the red tape to get the necessary tests and treatment approved. I am very thankful...

I would highly recommend Dr. Karyotakis! I was being bounced from one doctor to another and he found the problem no one else could. He takes the time to speak to you and he does call you back. His office staff is very nice and are quick to schedule you in.

Read the other reviews, which seem to be pretty divided so I'm gonna put myself somewhere in the middle and try to be objective. Frankly, I got a little bit of both the caring professional and the dismissive attitude. I was looking for a female Doc, thinking I'd be more comfortable, being female myself. However the first appt went fairly well and he seemed really interested in helping me out, literally saying "Don't worry, we'll figure this out", so I thought, OK I was wrong in my assumptions. He did recommend an endoscopy immediately, which seemed fair - I mean how else are you gonna know what's going on in there? The only thing was part of the procedure wasn't covered by the insurance and had to come out of my pocket. I felt his office had dropped the ball in doing their homework b/c it turned out there was an alternative procedure that WAS covered but I was not informed of this. I trusted he and his office knew what was best. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and saw him again for the follow up. Again, he was personable and friendly but started talking about a possible need to do a colonoscopy. Now, I knew a little bit about this since I'd done my own research and had at one time been pre-med myself (which he didn't know). I knew I was low risk, due to my age and there was nothing indicative in my family history. I saw no reason to undergo the procedure at the time. Meanwhile, I had been prescribed medication, which only helped a little. Wasn't seeing a lot of improvement. No response to my calls. So after the course of meds had been completed I did another follow up. This time his demeanor was so different: a 180 degree turn. I kind of got my feelings hurt a little. I blame the sensitivity on being pretty out of it for months: lethargic, tired all the time, severely depressed - it began affecting work. I described this to the Doc but I don't think he was listening. He just gave me meds that were unnecessary. That's my story: You decide. I've given up.

After reading some of these reviews, I have to completely disagree. Dr. Karyotakis is very thorough, caring and, as someone said below, easy on the eyes! I have never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment time while other docs have you sitting around for an hour after your scheduled time. I would highly recommend him to anyone suffering from GI problems.

I went to doctor "K" 3 weeks ago. Based on his website I felt I was in good hands with the best doctor in town. My firls visit was brief and very costly ($250.00) he didn't ask much questions but said i needed an endoscopy procedure asap! which costed $1,000 so i went ahead and had it done. on my visit i told him i was in a lot of pain and he gave me some samples that did NOTHING for my symptoms!!!!! He's staff is so incompetent.. i needed a doctor's note to clear me from physical training in school because due to my severe stomach pains i couldn't do. They never faxed it. i called 3 times and nothing. They dont return phone calls either. It's 3 weeks later and i know nothing of my results! i have no diagnose. i been miserable all this time in so much pain and discomfort. So i started researching about him and i came across this bad reviews about him which I agree 110%!!!!!!! i'm not waisting my time and money anymore. I'm going to another doctor who can HELP ME!!! this Doctor gave me the impression that is all about money. He just doesn't care for the patience well being. He did NOTHING FOR ME!

Professional, responsive, knowledgeable. This is what you want from a doctor. I am mystified by the negative reviews I have read. Medical procedures are expensive. So too are office visits with any professional. I did not have to wait an eternity to get in for an appointment, and he did not keep me waiting very long, which is unusual. Medical procedures were promptly scheduled, with good explanation and follow up. He is personable and very easy on the eyes.

I went to see this Doctor from the 1 review on insiderpages. Well he is not all that. Yes, he is frendly but that is where it ends. He will not give you test results, not return phone calls, his staff is the worst I have ever encounted.. oh yes and did I mention his prices are very expensive. If you do decide to go to him, he will spend 5 minutes with you, give you a big smile, and send you off to take about 5 thousand $ worth of tests. He will than charge 250.00 for that 5 minutes, OK he gives you some stomach medicine. I have been with him for 7 months, I decided to finally stop his abusive relationship when I got very ill and could not drive, I was in terrible pain and I needed to talk to him, HE WOULD NOT CALL ME, HE SAID I HAD TO COME IN..I GUESS THEY RAISED HIS COUNTRY CLUB MEMBERSHIP. It than took about 2 months of unretuned phone calls to get my files. I am seeing another DOC. Don't let his smile fool you. Be careful with this one!!!!

I saw a review on N Karyotakis on city search a few months ago, it was glowing, he was rated almost 5 stars. In fact he still is. I wonder if a family member wrote that review, as I wasted much money and time going to an incompentant Doc because of this website. Be warned people thisw Docs will do nothing and cost you plenty. This Doc is a mess, he is imcompentant, his staff are the worst. He is rude, dismissive, and he will not get to the root of your stomach issues. He seems all about money to me.. you get a short visit, little attention and a hefty bill... There are good Docs out there, he is not one of them.

This doctor, is very negligent, i have gone several times 1st time was for a consultation, 2nd was for an endoscopy, and 3rd for a follow up. 1st time he prescribed an endoscopy, 2nd time he confirmed i had polyps, then 3rd time he told me that he never said i had polyps, and was about to leave without telling me that i had an ulcer! As he lead me to the waiting room after the follow up he literaly tossed me the Prevacid pills in my direction without making any eye contact. Very rude!
