I don't personally see Dr Patel I see his assistant and I have no complaints what so ever but I agree the STAFF especially the office manager are RUDE!!!! There is an overall attitude rather you are in person or when you call from the staff that is unprofessional and very unpleasant. I have been going for over a year now and that is the only complaint I have.

The receptionist is a very hard person to get along with. Our son has been seeing Patel for over a year and we've had several problems with her. Patel told us one month that if we needed a referral to Texas Children's Hospital, he would give us one. When I took paperwork for a referral for the school district to test our son, the receptionist clipped out that 'he doesn't do referrals'. I asked if I could leave the paperwork anyway and that the doctor told us he'd do them for us. She rolled her eyes and took it from me-and that was it. No, 'I'll give it to him' or anything, she just turned away. She called back the next day and told me that the referral was ready. Really don't like her. Dr Patel is very nice and listens to our son. He doesn't push hard to make him answer questions, but he listens to our concerns about medicine and has been wonderful.

I have been seeing Dr. Patel for almost nine years now. He has always been wonderful to me. He is caring, takes lots of notes and is genuinely concerned about me and my family. His staff is a different matter entirely. I have read the two other reviews and can relate to both. If you never have an issue that "ruffles their feathers," the staff is wonderful. If you do have an issue, you may as well be talking to a brick wall, because I get the impression that they really couldn't care any less if they tried. The receptionist is rude and difficult and gets very snippy, then somehow tries to make it your fault. The first time it happened I thought maybe she was just having a bad day. I have figured out since that no day is a good day when speaking to his receptionist.

I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Patel himself. However his office staff is a bit obtrusive. The real problem is that Dr. Patel is the ONLY pediatric psychiatrist in the entire Brazoria County area. My son had to wait a month before being able to get in to see him and he needed help sooner than that! Maybe knowing this is why the office staff was a little abrupt and uncaring. It was the attitude of "take it or leave it" when trying to schedule an appointment for a child that desperately needed help sooner than a month away.

Dr. Patel takes the pain out of depression. He monitors anything he perscibes and sessions are reasonable. He does not allow not having insurance to stand in the way of service. He tailors payment to fit your needs. He listens carefully and takes a lot of notes and treats his patients with dignity and respect.

His staff is very caring and helpful.
I would highly recommend Dr. Patel
