With my first baby, I started out at Cary Women's Health Alliance. I always ended up seeing Dr. Maydew and she was never the friendliest person. I kept going because I hated to switch mid-pregnancy, but after an ultrasound, Dr. Maydew came in and told me my baby had cysts on its brain. Naturally, with a first baby and not being a doctor, I had never heard of this and was devastated. In a very frustrated tone, she told me that there was no reason to be upset and that she was setting me up with a specialist. Then, she walked out of the room with no explanation. I was there alone thinking that my baby had something terribly wrong with it. I waited almost a week before I could see the specialist and was upset for that entire time. The specialist told me that it was no big deal and that he would just keep an eye on it, and that if these types of cysts had been explained to me by my doctor, I would not have been that upset.
Additionally, I called Dr. Maydew when I was out of the state telling her that I had a UTI...I frequently got these, so I knew what they were and was hoping she would call in a prescription. Instead, she said "go see an urgent care" and that was it.
I will never go back there and am extremely disappointed that a practice like this attracts so many patients.

Dr. Maydew is AWFUL!! I was having my period twice a month and then I had it for a full continuous month everyday and she still wouldn't do anything about it!! She just said to keep a diary!! Can you believe it?! Than I went to another ob-gyne and he did an ultrasound and there was something wrong and I ended up needing surgery and that stopped the bleeding. This doctor should have her license taken away!

RUN!!!!!!!
My wife had her first prenatal visit scheduled here but started experiencing early signs of a miscarriage. Having this be our first baby and very real concerns, we came in explaining her situation without an appointment. The older receptionist was so rude to her. She stood crying in a cowded room explaining why she needed to be seen and didnt have an appointment. The receptionist rudely told her to ??have a seat, I don??t know if anyone will see you today.? She seemed juat so irritated with us. My wife ended up seeing Dr. Maydew. She had no bedside manner. She told us ??miscarriages are common and there is nothing I can do to stop it.? And with that she did an exam, said things were fine, and said nothing more about it. She didn??t seem concerned or even mention to us what to expect or what symptoms to look for, what to do in case of....or tell my wife to take it easy for the next few days, nothing. Imagine how scared and sad we were fearing the loss of our first pregnancy. We left there feeling like we were inconvienient and overreaciting. As Dr Neomi Maydew was out the door she made it a point to tell us ??you are lucky I had a cancellation and I was able to see you but don??t think you can just show up and expect to be seen everytime? she then paused and restated it just to make it clear to us that we cannot come without an appointment, even if it seems like an emergency. I couldnt believe that her biggest concern was that my wife didn??t leave the office thinking she can always just ??show up?. The next day she had a miscarriage. I cannot believe the way she was treated at this office. It is very clear that patient care is not a priority here. We had a post appointment with Dr. Anthony thinking we would try a different Doctor at the practice. He answered our many questions and at the end of the appointment he decided that was the perfect oppertunity to ask us, "have you been genetically screened as a carriers for the gene mutation that causes cystic fibrosis?" As if a miscarriage isn??t scary enough. I later did some research and found that while it is a serious disease, it is very rare. It only effects 30,000 people in the us. Our baby would have less then 1:10,000 odds of inheriting the disease. We also found out that genetic testing is very very expensive!!!! So why in the hell would he put that on us then as one more thing to worry about?!?! Stay away from this office, they have one priority....PROFIT!!!

I adore most of the other doctors in this practice and felt very much at home (I was a new transfer). I also liked the nursing/medical/non-medical staff very much. However, I am likely going to have to leave this practice because of this particular doctor who is unfortunately on call through the majority of the time near my due date. She is completely against birth plans and I was told that my medical treatment was non-negotiable. Period. She was also really rude and had a condescending tone about her. But for this doctor I would be very pleased with the practice. I was actually really shocked by the behavior and attitude of this doctor.

Dr. Maydew was a knowledgeable doctor, but her bedside manor was a little cold. As a woman, I expected her sympathy, but didn't really feel any for what I was going through.
