My husband and I are so grateful to Dr. Weix for his superb care. With my first pregnancy, I had a midwife and was planning a homebirth. I found Dr. Weix through the grapevine, and met with him a month before my baby was due--- just in case something were to go wrong with the homebirth, I wanted to meet with an obstetrician so that I wouldn't be faced with a total stranger in a moment of crisis. In that first meeting with him, Dr. Weix sat with me in his office for a good half-an-hour, talking to me, listening to me, and gently offering his experience of delivering babies, along with understandable cautions to consider in choosing to homebirth.

The weekend before my baby's due date, I received a call from his office checking up on me, which was very kind. At my 40 week check up at my midwife's office, we discovered that our baby had died over the weekend. We rushed to the hospital where we were met by Dr. Weix--- and without any condemnation or irritation, he proceeded to serve me as if I had been his patient throughout the course of the pregnancy. He encouraged a vaginal delivery instead of c-section, for even though that would be more emotionally taxing, it was safer for me.

He was terrific through the course of the labor and allowed the presence of my midwife as a doula.

The day after giving birth to our beautiful, still-born son, he came in to talk to me and my husband about the cause of our son's death and graciously reassured us that his death was not caused by choosing to go with a midwife as opposed to an ob/gyn---- that our son's death was not our fault, not caused by something we did or didn't do.

Dr. Weix handled our two post-partum visits, and encouraged us to feel free to try again to get pregnant after my second cycle. When I got pregnant again, we decided to have Dr. Weix as our ob/gyn for prenatal care. Unfortunately, we moved toward the end of my third trimester, or we would have had Dr. Weix deliver our second child as well-- a beautiful baby girl! But we drove back up to Dallas to see him for the post-partum visit, and he and the entire staff were so happy for us that it really delighted us to be back there.

Dr. Weix is one of the humblest and most intelligent doctors I have ever known, and I heartily recommend him to anyone looking for a good ob/gyn who respects his patients and who doesn't need to gratify his ego by insisting that he get his own way. He lays out the risks, makes his recommendations, and respects his patients' decisions. As a Catholic, I choose not to use artificial methods of birth control, and Dr. Weix has always been respectful of my beliefs. He does offer artificial birth control medications, but he never once pushed or verbally promoted such medications once he understood I had no desire to use them. I really appreciated that about him.

If you're looking for a terrific doctor, go and see Dr. Weix. You won't regret it!
