I was not impressed by the visiting Doctor routine, but what makes this office a NO GO place for me is the billing office. On each visit I had to spend several hours on the phone with insurance company to resolve the billing as the their billing person (whom happens to be the wife) could not be bothered to find out correct codes. She basically will do billing the easiest way possible for her and possibly more profitable ( billing patient, no coding,no adjustment for in_network, although she has charged me the balance which is illegal in CA). Her answers are not true as I have found out and she does play pop psychological trickery to intimate you as not to answer properly. If that doesnt work she will hang the phone on you. If you fall in to her routine billing you may be lucky and not get billed, depends if she feels like working and actually files the claim. My friends now have found out the amount of time they had been billed and paid when they shouldn't have as she has been convincing that insurance did not cover it. She is very good at sticking stickers on the bill saying its your responsibility. Basically an incompetent, greedy, lazy person whom happens to be the wife of the doctor, does the billing badly because she can (She is the authority). Dr Franklin might be a good Doctor but he has irresponsible biller and that does say something about how much he cares.
For us patients easiest way is to find a better office (no wife on staff or a wife with some intelligence and humility not driven by greed) and believe me you can not do worse.

I have been a patient of Dr. Franklin's for a couple of years now and have the utmost confidence in him. He is caring, kind and laser sharp when assessing medical issues. He has made a world of difference in my life and by extension my family (who are now patients as well). I was initially put off by his previous front desk person who was rude and very difficult to work with. But I liked Dr. Franklin....I stopped seeing him for a few months because of her..which was probably short sighted of me. About a year ago he replaced her with someone who is bright, friendly and always helpful. She somehow always finds a way to work in an appointment for me even last minute. The office is now a wonderful friendly place to come as well as highly professional. All my medical needs and those of my family are in great hands with Dr. Franklin.

Dr. Frankilin is kind and thorough, cautious yet reassuring and has incredible integrity. He always puts the patients' interests before his own. He makes every visit feel fun and easy. He and is staff are always happy to accomodate my needs and preferences. This is a happy, fun office that takes the stress out of going to the doctor! I feel listened to and cared about and at the same time, I feel the office is very professional. The new P.A., Larry Rose, is a great addition to the staff and is very pleasant and knowledgeable. Dr. Franklin has helped so many people I know who were in need without charging and his generosity is incredible!

Poor care, forced to make more appointments just to be able to continue receiving medications than needed.

I am a new patient to Dr. Peter Franklin, and I love the staff and the treatment I receive when I am seen at the office. It is difficult to find a good Doctor that you can trust and rely on, and he is just that. All of the staff is very helpful and accommodating. I have referred several friends to his practice.

I was impressed with this doctor as well as the office staff. I can see how his demeanor might rub someone the wrong way, but as an older person, I actually liked his sense of humor.

Dr. Franklin is a good family physician, an old school type that's hard to find nowadays. He can be rushed at times as other patients have noted, and I have left his office in tears because he can seem cold and uncaring, However, the big problem is his office staff, During the past 9 years there has been incredible turnover, someone new every time. At best they are inefficient and at worst they are rude. Their record keeping is a nightmare, I have had some annoying problems because of their antiquated system.

When I was able to see the Dr. it was a typical, professional experience. I felt a little rushed, but since I had everything written down, ready to go, it was not a big deal. However, scheduling a follow up for my physical was a nightmare. It has been over 5 weeks, 2 cancellations and 10 phone call attempts and still unable to get into the office for my physical. The last cancellation was due to the office "purging its files" - hopefully not my file. I plan on picking it up and moving on to a much better office.

Dr. Franklin is the best family practice doctor I have ever seen. I have been to a lot of doctors in the past and he has shown to be trustworthy, caring, takes time to actually listen to what your saying, and if he doesn't know the answer he will send you to someone that does. He is highly skilled in his profession and is an excellent doctor. I am extremely picky about who my doctor is and often will jump around until I find the perfect one for myself and family. This guy is it.

Some of the other reviews are very confusing to me. I've been a patient of Dr. Franklin's for about 13 years now, and he has never been anything short of fantastic for me. On more than one occaision, he has patiently allowed me to keep asking questions, even though it was well past my scheduled appointment time. His sincere care for my health and well-being has always taken precedence over just passing me off to another doctor or not addressing the issue directly. While one reviewer mentioned that he seemed rushed and abrupt, I find that Dr. Franklin is simply a very knowledgeable doctor who processes what you tell him quickly and can think equally fast on his feet to come up with an effective solution. Personally, I'd rather have a doctor who knows his stuff than someone who just wastes my time with filler and medical jargon because they don't really know what to do.

I've had my share of doctors who seemed like they could care less that I was even in the room. Something that has never happened in my experience with Dr. Franklin... even when I'm bombarding him with tons of questions that have nothing to do with why I'm there. :-) He's just been a great PERSON first and foremost. A person who also just happens to be a really great doctor.

The bottom line is simply this: Of all the doctors I've seen (and there have been a fair amount), Dr. Franklin is hands down the best doctor I've had. Which, is why he's been my primary physician for so long. If you're looking for a doctor who cares about his patients, focuses on what's best for them (and not what's easiest for the doctor), is extremely knowledgeable (and stays on top of what's going on in the ever-changing medical field), and is a very personable, witty and often funny guy... Then do yourself a favor and see Dr. Franklin.

Thanks so much to those who've contributed reviews. I am a new patient of Dr. Franklin's, and I chose him because I'd heard such good things about him. During our appointment he seemed incredibly rushed and abrupt, and wanted me to give him answers as if on drill command. I found this incredibly intimidating and stumbled through the visit. His assistant was able to schedule that visit on one day's notice, which was great, but didn't give me much time to pull together my medical history. Next time, I'm going in with an Excel spreadsheet of all dates and facts! I do have the sense that under his brash demeanor he's a caring doctor, and that he'll be very thorough about staying on top of my care plans with other specialists (with my old doc, once she referred me to a specialist, it's like that problem just went away. It didn't feel like holistic, whole-person care). I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

I have had several awful experiences as well. Gone in for a physical, just to be told I would have to make another appt. for the actual physical. His receptionist has been rude and abrasive at times. Dr. Franklin is not so professional & has creep-ed me out a couple of times in the past.

I had a frustrating experience with Dr. Franklin and his staff. I called in requesting a blood test that is necessary for one of my medications. I had to explain to the receptionist what it was I wanted several times before she understood what I wanted.
She scheduled an appointment with me, but when I went in to the appointment, the nurse told me that she only did blood draws from 7am-8:30am. She wouldn't draw my blood because my appointment was at 10:30am.
Dr. Franklin then saw me and told me I needed to come back for the blood test, then return a week after that for a full physical.
Basically I went into the office for nothing - just to schedule two more appointments, when all I needed was a simple blood test.

Peter Franklin has been my doctor for over 15 years. He takes the time to get to know his patient and truly cares about the state of their health.

He is quick to call in specialists when the need arises, but also knows what can be handled in his office. When a patient is referred to a specialist, Dr. Franklin stays involved in the treatment plan from beginning to end.

His office staff are professional and efficient
