The wait time was well over 2 1/2 hours. And then I only had abut 5 minuets with the doctor. They are obviously over working the doctors and making them see a quota or do not have enough help here. I will not be back.

I have been going to Henderson & Walton for over 20 years - ooh, that sounds weird, but I have. I've been seeing Dr. Edwards ever since he joined H&W. You've heard of warm hands/cold heart? NOT true with Edwards - he's just great. I've thought of changing docs just b/c he delivers babies and I don't need that anymore, but I just can't bring myself to change. "The Good Lookin' Doctor", as he's so often referred to as, is the way to go.

Dr. Philip Walton is my OB/GYN. Back in 1979 when I was pregnant with my first child, he told me my baby would be born on January 5th,1980 and he was born on exactly that day. I thought this man is a miracle worker and from then on I stayed his patient. I had a abnormal pap smear back in the 80's. Dr. Walton called my home and talked on the phone with me, explaining the surgery he was going to perform on me. I know we talked for about an hour and when I got off the phone, I felt so calm and good about the surgery I was going to have. Not many doctors will do that for you. Dr. Walton delivered my second child September 2nd of 1988. She is now his patient. I know alot of people love their doctors, but this one man I can honestly say, I trust with my life. Dr. Walton is always there for me and listens to me. He makes me feel really good because he cares. His nurse Norma is just as special. I am would recommend all my friends and family to Dr. Philip Walton.

Many years ago, when I had to change insurance carriers, a friend recommended that I see Brenda Taylor at Henderson & Walton and I have been seeing her ever since. She's wonderful physician. She's kind and patient and has a very soothing voice and a gentle touch which I'm sure is very important to most women. When I had surgery to remove some fibroid tumors, she followed my case for over a year prior to the surgery just to make sure that the surgery was absolutely necessary and afterwards, she came in to see me everyday to check my progress. The only problem I have had in the past has been the wait time for my appointment but other than that, I have no complaints. I've had the opportunity recently to change insurance carriers once again but when I realized that I would have to change physicians, I elected to stay with my current carrier.

I went to see Dr. Brenda Taylor because she is supposed to be very knowledgeable about bio-identical HRT. She didn't seem so knowing. Said she'd write me a PX only because I'd used it before and wanted me to get script from previous doc. Spent most of post-exam time explaining the practice's procedure for getting test results to you. She went over it twice. Yet she didn't even address some of my medical issues. I'll see someone else in the practice. And this is not a racial issue. I knew she was a different race from my own, but I made appt. based on her supposed interest in bio-ident. HRT. Disappointing.

Dr John Faucette delivered my first child 14 years ago and he was my doctor up until his passing and he left alot of broken hearts behind. He was a wonderful and caring doctor. I know use Dr Edwards who is just as caring. Dr Dan Hudson was on call and delivered my second baby two years ago and he was great as well. I have seen several doctors in this practice and have never seen one that I didn't like. I would encourage anyone that wanted a great doctor and a nice facility to visit Henderson & Walton's Womens Center.

I had been a patient of Charles Hudson since I was 16 years old ( I am now almost 32). When his son Bill, took over for him in Obstetrics, I began to see his son with my 3 pregnancy. I am now on my 4th pregnancy and I wouldn't change doctors for ANYTHING! Bill Hudson is so caring and understanding. If you are looking for an unmedicated birth, he is absolutely FABULOUS! He talks to me like I am an educated human being and things I don't know or understand, he is willing to explain. I will never see anyone else!

I had the same OB/GYN for almost 10 years, and then I met Bill Hudson. I had met with him a couple of times during my pregnancy, but it was while I was having my son that I changed my mind. Another doctor was on-call that day, and Bill Hudson was supposed to leave at 7 am, but he repeatedly checked on me even when I wasn't his responsibility. He also came to see me before I was discharged so that he could meet my son. He has a great bedside manner and a wonderful sense of humor.

I have used Dr. Gunnels for years and have grown to love and appreicate him as a trusted doctor.
Some Doctors are in the profession because they really care!
Dr. Gunnels is definitely one of those Doctors.
He proved this with his individual care for me during a difficult time.
He made me feel that I was his only patient.

Avoid this practice. My chart was lost, as well as instructions to the staff regarding tests. I was sent to an outpatient facility for a hysterectomy without being told until two weeks beforehand. I was discharged at 23 hours with complications. The staff did not return phone calls. I have permanent physical disabilities because St. Vincent's will not perform hysterectomies unless it's life-threatening. I was told by the HW staff it was an insurance matter, which is false. It is a religious issue. I am disabled, got a staff infection, and dev. an autoimmune disease due to their handling of my case. I did not sue. Yet, this practice will not even apologize. I am bedridden and my life will be cut short by 30 years. I have had 13 surgeries in attempts to repair what happened under HW's watch.

+1 point for Dr. Edwards and Dr. Britt. I loved both of them, Britt delivered my little girl. She was so great. I was handling the pregnancy just fine, but scared to death of childbirth. So while I'm in push mode, Dr. Britt is telling me "Oh, I hope you have lots of hairbows, I'm styling her hair now." The baby wasn't even born yet and my doctor is giving her a hair-do!! Okay, how sweet can it get? Very sad to say I hear she is no longer delivering babies due to health reasons. That my friend is such a tragedy!

-1 point for the wait time to see your doctor. 2 hours is ridiculous!!! It is bad enough going to these highly invasive pinch and poke you visits, but waiting that long only worsens anxiety and my blood pressure. Anxiety & high blood pressure - last time I checked NOT HEALTHY!
Something really needs to be done on wait times.

+1 point for convenience of satellite office in Gadsden. No interstate traffic, no parking decks, no scraping up change from the floorboards to get out.

Minus 1 point for Dr. Swindell. She is nice, but very short and uninformative. When she left the room I thought to myself..."Did I just wait 2 hours to pee in cup and have my blood pressure checked??" She could have been the cleaning lady for all I knew!

+1 point for the incredible nursing staff in delivery. I can't remember any of their names but oh so sweet. Going into labor was my first time as an actual patient in a hospital. The nurses made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The birth suites help as well.

In my opinion this is the best OB/GYN practice in the Birmingham, Alabama area. They can meet all of women's health care needs from the basic to more complex. They have excellent office hours. Their office is beautifully decorated. They have efficient office staff. They are conveniently located at St. Vincent's Hospital but have other satellite offices in other areas of the state.

I was referred to H & W in 1995 long before we had children. The doctors are very warm, and I can't say enough good things about my primary.

It can be very busy at times, with the waiting time to go with it. I've noticed in the last 2 years that wait times have gotten longer as more doctors and patients come aboard. I hope they might consider expanding with all the dvelopment that's going on at St. Vincent's.

PROS: staff
CONS: wait time
