Less than 2 days after my daughter got her 4-month shots, she became allergic to her milk-based formula, so I switched her to soy and it worked. The doctor scoffed at any connection, and gave her 6-month shots. On her second day of rice cereal she threw it all up. From 6 months on, she threw up a lot and refeeding her was often. She weighed less at 11 months than 8 months. At 12 months, we went to the E.R. and they diagnosed strep throat. I waited until 15 months to take her for 12 month shots, because of so many health issues. He got angry at me for waiting so long, and when I told him I thought she had a peanut allergy, he said, "Funny you should know that," so I didn't tell him WHY. I asked for an allergist referral and he refused, saying there were too many false positives. I switched doctors to Dr. Valencia. I told her our experiences, she listened, immediately prescribed an Epipen, Jr. and when I asked for a referral to an allergist, she mentioned false positives in one so young; I mentioned some research showing it could be helpful and she immediately made the referral. At 18 months, my daughter was skin tested by an allergist, we changed her diet accordingly and she stopped throwing up! She had many and some severe allergies. She is 10 now and doing well.
