Flexible and dependable. I left my other doctor for Dr. Bartruff.

Bad experience with this periodontist. Needed dental surgery, referred to Dr. Bartruff who seemed nice enough. Scheduled the surgery and from then on it was a nightmare. Rushed through the process, no follow-up, overcharges on my bill. Made the mistake of following his recommendation for some follow-up cosmetic work. Referred to someone who is obviously a buddy of his, who was only interested in the money he could make, not what was best for my needs. Just a bad experience all the way around.

I would give Dr. Bartruff 6 stars if I could - he is outstanding! I was referred to another periodontist by my dentist, and I checked out Yelp for reviews. Thank god, because that's where I found Dr. Bartrfuff, who is very highly recommended. I did some comparisons and Dr. Bartruff won hands down. He has the best rates (about 1/3 of the other doctor), accepts dental insurance (many others don't), he and his staff are the most friendly, professional and helpful people I have worked with in Atlanta, and he did a phenomenal job on top of it all! From the minute I called his office, they were much friendlier than the other offices (who were at times snooty!) and the second time I called, the doctor himself answered the phone and helped me figure out cost estimates and insurance coverage, and how much I should put in my flex account.

I have gone to him for two gum grafting procedures, which he explained fully to me and made sure I was very comfortable with prior to the surgery. On the day of surgery he covered me with a comfy blanket, and went to work. I don't remember hardly any of it due to the sedatives, but it didn't last long. Dr. Bartruff gave me his personal phone number in case I had any issues after the surgery.

I can't say enough good things about him, don't bother going to any other periodonitsts if you live anywhere near Atlanta! He is worth traveling here for!

I complelely agree with the comment made by Joe below. Beware that Dr. Bartruff doesn't participate in most (or all) insurance plans. Remember - They "accept" all insurance plans, but are NOT an in-network provider for any of the insurance companies. To make things worse for me, In my case Dr. Bartruff was listed in as an in-network provider (At a different address) in my Insurance company's website. Later I got to know that he doesn't work out of that location either and was told that it was out-dated information! My insurance company paid the UCR rate (Usual and Customary) which is paid to the out-of-network providers. I thought that the UCR amount which my insurance company paid to him was a decent amount for the service that was provided to me, but the rates that Bartruff charges are much above the UCR rates that insurance company pays and hence I was forced to pay up the difference. I would have been happy if Dr. Bartruff would have mutually agreed to write-off the balance as the expense was high for me and this was not exactly an error on my side, but seems like for him money gains precedence over customer retention.

Beware! He does not join dental insurance networks, so I ended up paying much more out of pocket than I would have if I gone to one listed on my insurance website's network. After I overpaid by several hundred dollars, it took a firm letter and a phone call to get my money back. The practice will bill you for an initial consultation, file your insurance (out of network), and after six months I realized that I was not refunded that initial consultation fee. The periodontist seems more about generating income than interest in providing good dental care. After the overpayment was brought to their attention, they billed for two bottles of mouthwash to reduce my refund. Go elsewhere!
