I had been to 2 gyns prior to Dr Rainer. They had both dismissed my issues as nothing. After one visit with Dr Rainer he found out what was causing my pain, addressed the issue and gave me options of what could be one. So glad that I found him and definitely won't be going nowhere else. Both a caring and knowledgable doctor.

Dr Rainer is a great doctor! He really knows his stuff and spent time answering my questions. He explained my diagnosis in words that I could understand....he even drew pictures to help me understand what was going on with my body. I felt that he was caring and really looking out for my health. I left the office believing that I am in good hands and would definitely refer my friends to Dr Rainer.

I went to My Pregnancy Place for an appointment with Dr Kelly Halstead, which I had. She??s great. But all my follow ups-- surprise!-- were with Dr Rainier. I don't want a male OB/GYN, okay? I just don't. But that??s not why I dislike him.
1) He wrote a book, ??A Doctor??s Guide To Wealth? which he displays prominently in his office and on his website. If I were a doctor, I'd be ashamed to have written a book like that, and I sure as hell wouldn't have it out for my patients to see. (Doc, if you??re reading this, here??s why: to us, your patients, that title says "How To Get Rich Off Your Patients".)
2) Patients must wait over 90 min. I guarantee this. I??ve had at least 6 appointments, where I was on time, and this happened at every single one. That??s incredibly disrespectful of our time. Worse, a TERRIBLE movie plays on a big- screen TV in the waiting room. ("Just Wright", twice. "Face/Off". "The Hot Chick.") It's impossible to ignore. And the DVD is on repeat, so just when you think it??s over... it??s not over.
3) Exams last about 4 min, where he??s on auto-pilot the whole time (introduces himself even though you??ve met already, repeats the same little speeches he did last time, etc.).
4) He uses jargon and goes ahead and just books you for meaningless, expensive, invasive, painful tests without saying you have other options, including the option to NOT do them. You WILL get an ultrasound (=sonogram) on your first visit, and he??ll probably schedule a urodynamic test. Then maybe a dilation & curettage-- D&C-- for your harmless fibroid, when an endometrial ablation/ resection or a hysteroscopy would work just as well without general anesthesia. It just goes on and on and on-- yet he was completely unconcerned about my overdue pap smear.
5) He tries to sell you a ??medicated wash? with a fancy color printout that says your vagina STINKS. It??s a douche, it??s $50, and your insurance won??t cover it-- it says so right on the printout. No reputable OB/GYN would ever tell you to douche, and definitely wouldn??t try to SELL you an extra- fancy douche.
6) His stats are wrong. (The National Institutes of Health reports that less than 1/1,000 fibroids are cancerous, not 1/100 like he says. Even fast- growing fibroids have a less than 1/200 chance of being cancerous. That's a significant error.)
7) He tries to scare you about harmless things. Here??s what he??ll say if you have a fibroid (I know because I heard it twice): ??Fibroids can cause pain, cramping, excessive bleeding, fertility problems, and...? ready? ??...ABDOMINAL DISTENTION.? So if you have no current problems with that fibroid you??ve had for 15 years, and you??re not scared for your health, you should be scared that they CAN make you LOOK FAT. That??s incredibly insulting.
8) He's both patronizing and inaccurate when he explains his erroneous stats. Here??s what ELSE he??ll say if you have a fibroid (I know because I heard this twice, too): ??In a room of 100 Debras, only 1 Debra will have a cancerous fibroid.? Gee, is that what ??percent? means? Thanks, Doc. But actually, he??s wrong AGAIN. Even if the 1/100 part was correct, which it isn??t, in a room of 100 Debras, each of those Debras has a 1/100 chance of having a cancerous fibroid. There??s a big difference, Doc.
9) He stands too close. (Yes, I DO want respectful distance, even after he's had his hand up my vagina).
10) It??s a bait- and - switch. You book an appointment with a nice female OB/GYN and wind up seeing a creepy male OB/GYN and railroaded into WAY more tests and follow- ups than you actually need.

I went to see Dr. Rainer after a friend of mine recommended I see him. It's difficult to form a relationship with a doctor, especially in this city but not impossible, so I went and gave him a shot. Though after waiting over 2 hours after my appt time with no status "report" from his detached staff, the fact that I felt that I was rushed through when I eventually DID "get in", the fact that I was handled by his 'techs' who actually did most of the work, and saw Dr. Rainer for no more than 5 mins, I felt that he was at least thorough. I had questions for him that he was obviously too busy to answer and I was informed that he wanted to see me, as he did all his patients every 6 months instead of annually. (insurance payout or caring physician? hmmm)
What made me write this review however was not my initial less than great experience, that visit was what it was, whatever. Why I chose to write this review is because I needed to see him very recently and was completely and utterly blown off! I called Dr. Rainer's office and told Julie that I needed to make an appt since I was having a gynecological issue most probably due to the heat etc. (rash). Before she asked me anything, she asked me if I was pregnant or suspected that I was. I replied that I was not. At this point she told me to "Go to the emergency room."
I then asked her if that was the doctor's policy. If a patient calls and wants to make an appt , if they are not pregnant they are referred to the emergency room. She said yes. I also asked if Dr. Rainer had another OBGYN he made referrals to if he was unable to see one of his patients. She replied. very rudely, "No", then hung up on me.
I was, and still am angry and stunned! So, if you're NOT pregnant and the doctor doesn't get paid out for his services, you're not worth his time. That's the bottom line with this doctor.
Unfortunately, from what I had noticed, his practice does well so he's in a position to pick and choose and blow off whomever doesn't bring in the money.
It's a shame that doctors like this exist, patient care comes after his BMW.
Nice :(

Pros: A thorough doctor
