I was raised in a family that treasured learning; the oldest of three brothers, we all chose careers as health professionals. My interest in dentistry had early beginnings; my mother took me to regular dental visits and I had a traumatic dental injury as a child. This began my personal odyssey as a patient and piqued my interest for the fascinating demands of dental medicine. After high school I focused on pre-dental studiesI took the fast track through undergraduate studies, a three year Science-Dental B.S. degree program. I continued at the University of Louisville graduating in 1971 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, with Phi Delta Prosthodontic Honors. While serving in the US Army Dental Corps at Arlington Hall Station, I was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. In the Army, my commanding officer stressed the need for continuing education, which has endured throughout my practice years.I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Lifetime Member of the American Dental Association. My wife, Carolyn, and I pursue an active lifestyle. We enjoy time with our family, three grandchildren and our two dogs. Carolyn and I compete in races and triathlons including IronMan. When time permits I play my guitar or flyfish.
