.

On the day of my 18 year-old daughter??s surgery, Dr. Edwards went over the procedure with her. He showed her the syringe that she would be using to rinse out the empty sockets on the bottom. The procedure went well. She rinsed out the sockets after every meal. Ten days after the procedure she was experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort on the bottom sockets. I took her back to Dr. Edwards. He walked into the exam room and said nothing. So I spoke up and said, "She is experiencing a lot of pain". He exclaimed "of course she is! She is not rinsing properly!" My daughter told him -- yes she was rinsing properly. Again Dr. Edwards spoke harshly and said your not getting the syringe far enough into the hole and I will prove it to you. He handed her a mirror, ORDERED her to hold onto it and watch how to do it the correct way. Before he put the syringe into her mouth said ??this is going to hurt a lot?. Yes, a lot of yucky stuff came out. And yes, she was not putting the tip of the syringe all the way into the sockets. This does NOT excuse his behavior. Perhaps a detailed description with illustrations on how to properly insert the syringe before rinsing should be given out to all patients on the day of the procedure.

My only hope is she heals up and we NEVER have to see Dr. Richard Edwards again.
