Having already received a diagnosis for ADHD from a child psychiatrist, we went for a school physical and to get a prescription refill. After spending 5 minutes with my wife, myself and my son, Dr. Mao decided that our son was acting out problems in the marital relationship and that we needed to go to a relationship retreat that was taught by a lawyer (?!). Never mind all the psych testing that determined my son's diagnosis or our protests. Never returned.

Dr. Mao was the physician for all 4 of my kids and I always trusted his advice. We had asthma, pneumonia, RSV and many other things. He listens to the children and he is very caring with his bedside manner. He even diagnosed my neighbors boy who had a rare genetic condition that could have killed him without being referred to Texas Childrens hosp. I wish that I could find someone that I trust in my new city of residence.

Terrible, if your child is sick on a weekend or during travel Dr. Mao only sends you the the emergency room never assists or makes any attempt at helping. Three separate times, Dr. Mao has sent us to the ER- with no guidance or suggestions- in fact when we were in Maine- he did the same thing- I told him what the problem was, ear infections-he sends us to the ER- I called our ENT and a script was sent to the local Walmart, amazingly that fixed the ear problem- the ER would have cost as much as $1000. Same thing a few weeks ago- I again called the ENT script sent to the local Walmart illness solved. The staff doesn't keep updated records on shots much less do they forward the records to the transferring Dr. officer so that your NEW DR. wont have any issues, thanks Dr. Mao and your staff for making this transition to a new officer terrible. I would NEVER recommend you or your office to anyone, you really don't care about your pt, when they are out of state- or when they are local. Also your hours are terrible.

The staff at Dr. Mao's practice is amazing. They are attentive, patient, and really enjoy being with the children. Dr. Mao is who I recommend to all families searching for a pediatrician. For well checks, etc, he has always been great for my son. For cases of more concern, he is very involved from diagnosis - to treatment. Even if you are referred out of practice to specialists, he remains involved and is a wonderful source of encouragment.
