Since I was 16 (30+ years ago) I have gone to dermatologists. Dr. P is BY FAR the best dermatologist I have ever gone to in all those years. Yes, he is fast but that's him! He gets the job done, organized, tells you what NOT to worry about, talks to me like we've known each other for years. He has a VERY accurate symptom of reporting news that's not great...........you get a call!!!! If it is nothing, you get a letter in the mail. I drive from Branford to Trumbull to see him (drive right by every arrogant, cocky dermatologist in New Haven!). He even has a policy that if you don't have an appointment and something comes up, be at this door at 7 am and he will see you. I would recommend Dr. P highly to anyone. Great personality and a talented diagnostician.
I developed a terrible rash on my neck, shoulders and hands. I also had a rash going on on my lower legs. The Doctor was able to take me right away and knew immediately what the problem was. I found his office staff to be very helpful and professional. I cant thank them enough and have complete confidence with Dr. Patrignelli. Thank you.
I had such a pleasant experience with this office. I have been to quite a few dermatoligists in the past years, all I have had to wait over a month for my first appointment. None of the other doctors could ever give me a clear explanation of the dry skin around my nails. Finally a friend recommended Dr. Patrignelli and I had an appointment within a couple of days. He also quickly confirmed psoriasis as the issue with my hands and helped me find a solution. My grandfather had an irritation on his hip and the doctor took him the next day and found it to be skin cancer. He helped my grandfather right away and was very good at explaining this to an 80 year old who does not speak English. He is a wonderful doctor! I would recommend him to anyone!
This was my first visit to Dr. Patrignelli's practice. I was impressed that I was able to get an appointment on short notice, but when I arrived at my scheduled time, there actually was not a chair available to sit in in his waiting room! There were at least 10 people waiting to see him, and he is a solo practitioner. I had to stand with a clipboard to fill out paperwork. The receptionist had apparently never heard of HIPAA, because in front of everybody, she asked me to give her my social security # and to verbally verify my street address. Finally, a seat freed up and a half hour wait ensued before I was called into an examining room, and then another 15 minutes there for a total of a 45 minute wait. His 7 minute exam confirmed my suspected rosacea, and he gave me prescriptions for 3 medications and asked me to come back in a month. He was pleasant enough, but I posed the questions. He never took the time to solicit my input.I'll report back in a month with my results and my followup visit.
I have spend a good portion of my life with undiagnosed small rashes which had always been chalked up to allergies. When the rash spread to nearly my entire body I scheduled to meet with Dr. P.He nearly immediately recognized that I have a rare condition called dermagraphitis, gave me a regiment of anti-histamines, and since I have nearly no problems with my skin. I find him kind, helpful, and warm. I have never felt rushed.
I had a horrible rash of bright red splotches all over my face for most of highschool and then it reappeared a few years later. My dermatologist at the time who is very well known around here had noooo clue what to do and never got it to go away, except on it's own. Years later, I was at work at a custom picture framing shop almost closing time, and this very handsome man walked in. Since I was the only girl working, I was lucky to help him. He was very nice, asking me about the rash, and then asked if my hands ever hurt. I had never told anyone that! After answering yes to all his questions I asked, who are you????? He held up what he came in to frame, and it was a dermatology certificate! He said you obviously have lupus which no one ever told me before, in fact, my rash is one of the #1 signs of lupus! It was 8:30 that night, he called his office right there and got me an appointment first thing the very next morning! My face cleared up in a few days, and reffered me to a wonderful rheumatologist who treats the accompaning joint pain among other symptoms. Dr Patrignelli is a special person to me, if he wasn't so dedicated to his work, my lupus wouldn't have been caught so early and I would have continued habits that could send me to the hospital. If you feel he's rushed, too bad, someone as good as him should help as many people as he can, but he's always answered all my questions, and I DO ask alot of questions! I reccomend him every single time it comes up to anyone that's listening.
After reading the former 2 reviews, I felt compelled to come to Dr. Patrignelli's defense. As a nurse myself, I work with doctors all day. I can professionally say that he is top notch in his field. If he seems rushed, it is because his reputation is so good that he is inundated with people trying to see him for conditions other dermatologists were not successful in treating. He doesn't turn anyone away, thank god. because other doctors do.
He treated my son who had a severe dermatological case that other dermatologists could not treat. He saved my son's self esteem.
As a professional myself, I recommend him to everyone who needs a competent and skilled physician.
PROS: Highly skilled and knowledgeable.
I was very impressed when arriving to this dermatologist. The office is immaculate and very expensive looking! There was a pot of coffe out and a tray of cookies. The receptionist was very friendly. However, the doctor seemed to be in a rush and was very quite. He never asked if I had any questions and almost seemed to be running from one exam room to the next. In the time it took for me to put my shirt back on, he had already seen another patient and was on his way to the next! Personally, I would prefer a doctor who spends some time with their patients.
