Overall the experience I had with this doctor was horrendous. I went to him because I was having some trouble coping with marital problems I was having with my husband which was in turn affecting my sleep. The office was generic by any standard. Usually, when you walk into a psychiatrist office you expect to feel comfortable with the doctor you are sharing intimate details with. This was not the case with me. From the get go, I knew I should have walked out. Its just that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you know something is not right. Dr.Marquis is an older man, maybe late 60's- early 70's, I would venture. The first red flag I encountered was his over-excitement upon meeting me. The only way I can describe it is he was very "handsy". In my experience with therapists, they usually sit across from you when delving into your problems. He was more interested in sitting right next to me, with his arm around my shoulder. Many times during our session resting his hand right on my breast or the inside of my thigh. I pushed it away a few times and even moved away from him. The whole time I felt he was undressing me with his eyes. He kept making suggestive comments to me such as, "you can tell me absolutely anything, is there anything private you need to share? Anything you tell me or show me is privileged, you wouldn't be the first patient to get comfortable in this office.." At that point I ended the session and left. It was horrifying.
