I saw him at UNL several years ago with symptoms that would later (and very obviously) be diagnosed as colitis by another physician. He claimed they were probably caused by chlamydia because "all you girls have something" and gave me a medically unwarranted pelvic exam, after which he wordlessly gave me a pamphlet on fiber (which exacerbates colitis symptoms anyway) and left the exam room.

A few months later I went in after an ovarian cyst had ruptured and he told me, again, that I just needed to eat more fiber. I ended up getting a second opinion, an ultrasound, and actual treatment later that day and decided to refuse treatment if he was ever assigned to me again.

I attended UNL from 2003-2007 and every woman I know from the time period has similar stories, including one who was given a breast exam when she went in with tonsillitis.

Not only is he an awful doctor, he's a creep with power abuse issues. Stay away.

Dr. Quiring was notoriously unprofessional at UNL. Went in for a knee injury once and he made constant comments about my weight, tried to foist me into alcohol counseling and tried to give me a restricted diet of something like apples, yogurt and green vegetables. Any other time I went in there, regardless of ailment, it was much the same. His air of know-it-all superiority is only matched by his borderline sociopathic lack of empathy and bedside manner. Stay away.

My sister, her friend, and I have all seen this doctor while at UNL. I went in for routine lab work which was a class requirement. This doctor reported that based on my labs, I was clearly anorexic and needed to admit it. I am, and always have been thin, but not bone skinny! I was shocked at his accusations and said I was definitely not anorexic. With this, Dr. Quiring initiated more tests, more office visits, and more accusations. I was truly terrified that something was wrong with me. I cried and cried, because he had explained that if I wasn't anorexic, then surely my kidneys were failing. A week later, Dr. Quiring called me and said that a hefty football player had the labs done and came up with the same results. They knew he couldn't be anorexic, so they reviewed the lab's techniques and found errors. In other words, my results were a lab error. There was no apology for this!
My sister saw him for severe heartburn. He got out his Rx pad and said, "I'll just write you these prescriptions. If these don't work, try an incantation."
Finally, my sister's friend went in with severe abdominal pain. He told her she was in pain because of the chips and salsa she'd had the night before and sent her home. Two hours later, she was in the ER preparing to have her appendix out. This doctor does not listen to his patients and has NO bedside manner. Choose someone else for your care.
