.

Dr. Roy was our pediatrician for 4 years until we moved away from Charlotte.

I was always very pleased with the care my children received from Dr. Roy. His greatest strengths are his skills as a diagnostician and his respect for patient choices.

He always explained why he thought one diagnosis was more likely then other possibilities and sought my input. He never dictated what course of treatment we would take, but told me what he thought we should do. On the few occasions when I preferred to take a different course, he treated me with respect. Many doctors I've been to have acted insulted or angry or condescending if you choose a different course then they recommend. But Dr. Roy taught me a few things about respecting other's choices, even if you disagree with them, through his example.

My children liked him, and they are not keen on strangers. He never touched them without warning or treated them as if they couldn't possibly understand anything going on around them, like some other pediatricians I've encountered.

Dr. Roy is also breastfeeding-friendly. He is knowledgeable about and supports extended breastfeeding.

I have never regretted having to leave behind a particular doctor before, but I had enormous respect for Dr. Roy and wish he could still be my childrens' pediatrician.
