I have been a patient for about 7 years. Came to Roby 70 lbs overweight, using a C-Pap to breathe at night, unable to button a shirt, in pain, and struggling to exist. After a series of tests he explained my food allergies and supplied the treatments. He also altered my diet and initiated hormone therapy. Progress was immediate and astounding. He restored me to health. I believe my life was saved. It is certainly MUCH better because of Russell Roby. I FINALLY FEEL LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. I cannot thank him enough. I do not know anything about his private life or professional squabbles, but I DO know he is a damn good doctor... brilliant, even. There is no pleasing some people. I am grateful for his help.

I am the one who sued this man but did not get enough to compensate for the suffering I endured and for the permanent damage he did to me. He started out with a small office and I thought that was what he was simple and wanted to help like he advertises. Be wary of advertisements especially people who advertise things for free as they are luring you into a trap. Trust me I wish I had known to look at websites such as the Texas Medical Board to look up credentials because if I had I would have seen that he lost his license in California and all the horrible things he did to me and others.

You also have to remember these doctors stick together in the alternative fields and that is dangerous as I was referred by a doctor in Victoria Mabray who does research with Dr. Roby and this started his "research" with me that almost took my life. He can;t deny this because he mentiones the suit because it is public. Be wary of doctors who claim to be out for your best interests and want you to write letters to state reps and help them with litigation. I am amazed at how many patients do this and even went the the legislative sessions claiming, in ignorance, that thier care was being jeopardized by TMB because these doctors were getting in trouble for harming patients. These doctors want your money and they don;t care who they harm and then they carry the least amount of insurance so they never really pay for the mistakes they make.

The oath "First do no harm" is for the fellow doctors not patients and it would do us all good if we remember that. I have the scars, literaly to prove what happened to me and he cannot deny this. All these big offices, books and other things have gone to his head and he thinks he is God and even writes his own review. That is how desperate he is for your money because he has to pay these associates by board order as his punishment. He is not offereing you anything for free but a lifetime of misery and pain. Stay away from him and doctors like Rea and Johnson who are from the same cloth and next time the legislature meets worry about your health being in jeopardy when these docs change the laws to protect themselves--insurance reform means they don;t pay for mistakes and anaonmyous complaints at TMB need to be allowed.

You need to retire and do Texas a favor and add Johnson and Rea to the list. Stay away from the Dallas area everyone. They are just as dangerous and they stick together.

I have a rare auto-immune disease, Behcet's, was in a wheelchair and taking up to 16 percocet a day to control the pain. We went to doctors up and down the west coast and was only put on more drugs that were slowly killing me. My husband found Dr. Roby online on a night when I really wanted my life to be over, pain was to much to bear. He called in the morning and talked to the doctor personally, he has taken great time and care with me and helped my husband cope. He is take charge and practical and gets to the root of the WHOLE disease. The patient has to be willing the make the changes in diet, exercise and medications and when you do, it WORKS! I am out of the wheelchair and walking on my own, half a percocet a day and driving. Life is worth living because of this caring doctor, because of him I am alive today. Thank you Dr. Roby and staff for your help and kindness.

Dr. Roby is a very generous Doctor. I brought all three of my daughters to be tested for allergies and he didn't charge me for two of them. We discovered a progesterone allergy in my oldest daughter.
It turned out that my daughters health issues were rooted in Lyme disease and nasty co-infections. But, Dr. Roby was one of the more pleasant experiences we had with doctors in our journey.
When my daughter is done treating lyme I will bring her back to work on her progesterone allergy if it's still a problem...I would recommend him to anyone needing allergy help.

I am very disappointed that I have upset four reviewers to the extent they would write such nasty things about me and my office. In my defense I offer the many positive reviews on www.insiderpages as well as the one positive review here.

I am Dr. Russell Roby. I have been in practice for 35 years and have had one suit filed (settled). We are so patient-oriented that we offer a 100% money back guarantee to anyone who is not completely satisfied with our services. If a patient isn't happy at their first visit, there is no charge whatsoever. Over 30% of our work is done free for patients who cannot afford treatment. No one is turned away for inabilty to pay. My associates are board-certified, Johns Hopkins and Harvard trained allergists.

We are available to all our patients. My home number is in the directory. I think we go way out of our way to help our patients and I would never, knowingly, have offended anyone, much less a patient, in the manner described by these reviewers.

I've been a patient of Dr Roby's for 9 yrs now, and I can honestly say, without him, my allergy season(s) would be unbearable. I suffer, like most in our area, to ragweed, cedar, and many species of molds, but thanks to Dr Roby, his allergy testing and treatment, his knowledgeable staff, and to his unique desensitizing program to such allergens, my days of suffering from allergies have come to an end. I highly recommend Dr Roby @ Roby Institute to everyone, and tell them Mary sent you.

I want to recommend the Roby Institute to anyone who is extremely allergic/hypersensitive and who has tried standard HRT and allergy shots, only to get worse as a result. I have spent the past 22 years going from specialist to specialist, getting sicker and sicker with each new onslaught of the medical theory/drug du jour. I usually felt better initially, but the medications always ended up eventually backlashing into numerous side effects. Allergy shots always made me feel worse. Doctors used the word "idiopathic" with me a lot, which just means they didn't really know what the cause of my problem was.

My problem is basically what most of my family has--severe allergies. The shots were too strong and the hormones were, too. Since the Roby Institute uses homeopathic dilutions, I was able to respond, albeit verrrry slowly, to Dr. Roby's protocol. After six months, I am to the point where I can sleep, eat, and breathe better. The sublingual drops are great because I don't have to make time to go see an allergist for a shot every week, and the idea that you can be allergic to your own hormones makes sense--I have noticed a huge difference in my skin, mood, and general functioning as a result of the estrogen/progesterone drops.

I also like the fact that the Roby Institute is open on most Saturdays until 2:00; that you can call Dr. Roby on his cell or at home; that his staff is unfailingly helpful, patient, and accommodating. The Roby Institute's total lifestyle approach -- diet & exercise modulation--was a path I was already halfway down, so the exercise protocol dovetailed neatly with the diet changes I had already made. The Institute's office has worked with me to make sure that I can take full advantage of my insurance coverage. The $1,000 initial out-of-pocket for the hormone therapy was well worth it, and I'm a government employee, which means I'm not exactly rolling in the dough!

I just wish that I had found the Roby Institute sooner!

Texas Board of Medical Examiners disciplines Dr. Roby. This should be a warning to everyone interested in being treated by Dr. Roby. Also, consider the other reviews on this site. It's obvious that he's only interested in his profit, not anybody's health. Also consider why there are only negative reviews on this site.

ROBY, RUSSELL R., M.D., AUSTIN, TX, Lic. #E1255
On December 10, 2004, the Board and Dr. Roby entered into an Agreed Order publicly reprimanding Dr. Roby, requiring a practice monitor, and requiring Dr. Roby to present an informed consent for Board approval. The action was based on allegations that Dr. Roby treated a patient?s bacterial infection with dilute tetanus toxoid injections without informed consent.

How can a doctor in good conscience completely ignore the welfare of his patients? It's a matter of ethics and integrity.

Can you say rip off? If you want to pay for a one thousand dollar office visit and meet with an arrogant doctor who talks AT you over a desk, give it a try. The office staff was friendly over the phone but after a 30 minute wait to get to a room and a 20 minute wait for the doctor with no apology, I thought it was a waste of money. Dr Roby spent less than 10 minutes just talking to me and really did not seem interested. They also push additional testing for a couple of thousand dollars for allergies. Any physician can write a prescription for bio-identical hormones. Peoples pharmacy does compounding. My insurance would not pay for any of this. What a racket!

After a lengthy phone conversation which revolved mainly around the high cost of these treatments, I relented and decided to pay thousands in the hope that this treatment would alleviate my symptoms which were book perfect on the symptom list provided by the Institute.
When I arrived in the posh offices a very nice allergist started testing me. I am hypersensitive to most stuff and the testing was done so fast that it did not even give me time to properly think about the response. After abut 5 tests she told me I had some allergies and to give me a break she called in the physicina who by the way was NOT Dr. Roby. He does not take Blue Cross so you see someone else!
This arrogant man walks in and when he found out I was already taking hormone supplementation he said to me that there was nothing they could do for me. He came to this scientific solution after talking to me for 3 minutes. He talked to me, I did not get a chance to say one complete sentence as he kept interrupting in obvious and complete disinterest. He told me there was nothing they could do for me and left. The nurse that did the allergy testing was obvioulsy tremendously embarrassed but nothing she could do. I was in schock and after coming home I called and asked to speak to Dr. Roby whom I never even saw. Even now they did not have the courtesy to let me speak to him but rather someone else talked to me who says that they have to go woth what the physician recommends. I reminded them that a Dr. takes a Hippocratic oath to help patients and not to dismiss them when they are maybe not a slam dunk case. And as far as my finances..............well that was not really of their concern I told them. Also who has ever heard of a DR who dismisses a patient who is in chronic pain and tells them "I cannot help you" Is it not his responsability to try to find a solution to alleviate someone's distress? It is indeed dubious behavior at the very least, and for thousands of $$ you are better off at a spa!

I went to the Roby Institute for a food allergy test and experienced the worst treatment by a doctor and medical staff I could have possibly imagined. To begin with, when I called to set the appointment, I had to explain to a saleswoman/scheduler that I needed documentation of food allergies and that I was not interested in the $2000 serum she was telling me about. When I arrived for my examination, I was not asked about why I was there until I again heard their sales pitch for a treatment plan. Once I told my PA that I needed a simple food allergy/sensitivity test and documentation of the results, she said that she would have to check with Dr. Roby to see if they could help me. Dr. Roby apparently told her that they would not be able to test me, so she came back and informed me that I would have to go elsewhere to have the test done. Since I had just filled out a medical history form asking about food allergies, I asked whether they typically test for sensitivity to foods when they do their normal testing procedures. She and a nurse who was then helping her said that they did indeed perform a food sensitivity test on a regular basis. So I asked why they could not perform the test on me and then document the results. They went to check with Dr. Roby again, this time returning with him in tow. "We can't help you today," was barked at me as the door opened and Dr. Roby came into the room. I then introduced myself to the good doctor and once again explained why I was there and that what I needed appeared to be (a) within reason and (b) part of an everyday procedure at their office. He finally relented without saying another word to me, and yelled at his staff to perform the test. The test took 5 minutes to perform. Afterwards, they informed me that they could not use my insurance for such a "minimal" procedure and that I would have to pay 5 times the amount of my co-pay for my visit. They seemed uninterested in helping once they decided that I was a low-value patient.
