On May 30, 2014, I took my daughter to the office of Dr. Saleha Baig, a psychiatrist. Upon arriving at the office we were instructed to fill out a cursory survey of vague personal questions. We turned in all of the required paperwork and provided a co-pay of $40. We then waited an additional 20 minutes past the original appointment time. When my daughter was finally called in to be seen, it was not Dr. Baig, but instead a man named Seth Wittner, PA-C. He did not introduce himself to me or my daughter and simply took her into the office without saying anything. I knocked on the door and expressed my concern since we had purposely made our appointment with a female doctor as that was my daughters personal preference. I said she is supposed to see a female doctor today, to which he replied nope. I asked my daughter what she wanted to do and she said since we were here she would give the appointment a try. Out of respect to her privacy I waited in the waiting room. During her appointment I noticed that every word that was said could be clearly heard from the waiting room, meaning that neither my daughter nor any other patient being seen in that office had any privacy to speak of. Less than twenty minutes later my daughter exited the office with a prescription for Prozac and Xanax. Wittner made no attempt to explain the drugs or their possible side effects to me or my daughter. Once again I knocked on the door to the office he was in, and he said come in. I asked him if there was anything he wanted to explain to us about the prescriptions he had just written. He told me he would not talk to me in private and demanded that we discuss the matter in the waiting room. He was so emphatic about this that he actually put his hands on my chest and attempted to push me out of the door. He then called in the entire staff that was working at the time as witnesses. We just wanted some more information about why he prescribed the drugs he did and about their possible side effects. He flat out refused to answer any questions we had and would only repeat over and over again that we were setting him up. We asked him setting him up for what?, but he wouldnt say. He said we were not asking a clear question so we asked him why he would prescribe two serious, brain chemistry-altering drugs to a 16 year old girl without explaining the drugs or their possible side effects to either the patient or her parents. He had no answer and just said over and over again that this was a set up. At this point my daughter was extremely upset and crying. He looked her in her face and called her a liar. This experience has understandably left her very shook up and hurt her confidence in all psychiatric professionals. When we got home, a cursory search of his name brought to our attention that he is a PA-C, or physicians assistant-certified, NOT a psychiatrist. He does not have any training in psychiatry or any experience in family or child psychology. His qualifications are as a GP with experience in cardiology and Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat). Why the office of Dr. Baig thought it was appropriate to allow him to fill in for the actual psychiatrist is unknown to us. His only interest was in prescribing medication and getting us out of the office as quickly as possible. Even his face book page suggests that he is nothing more than a drug dealer: https://www.facebook.com/script.by.sw . We intend to pursue this matter by filing formal complaints with all applicable licensing boards. DO NOT under any circumstances allow this man to treat you or anyone you care about.

Dr. Baig is the best psychiatrist I've ever had. She is very flexible, as far as psychiatrists go. She is compassionate and cares about her patients far more than many other psychiatrists I've seen. While her religious affiliation is obvious to even a casual observer, she does not allow her religion to interfere with giving the best, most professional care to her patients.

Yes, Dr. Baig's waiting room is almost always full and waits can be very long - but this is the sign of a good psychiatrist. A psychiatrist with an empty waiting room is bad news because that means nobody wants to see that doctor!

Dr. Baig also has a separate playroom for waiting children. The playroom is close enough to the waiting room that parents can see their children, but far enough away from the waiting room that other waiting adults are not annoyed by any noise. There are quiet toys in the playroom for the children to play with. I don't have kids but I really appreciate the playroom.

I am extremely satisfied with the care I receive from Dr. Baig. I drive all the way from St. George, Utah to her office (almost 150 miles each way) to see her and every mile is worth it. I've been seeing her for 3 years and I'm very happy.

I took my brother here for his therapy sessions after dealing with a creepy therapist. Dr. Baig is very sweet, very caring, and her support staff is polite. She's great with kids.

The waiting time varies from appointment to appointment but the care she gives is well worth it. My children like this Dr. and she has been very helpful.

PROS: Dr. with a great deal of knowledge
CONS: wait time might be excessive
