Being the planner that I am, I decided to thoroughly research pediatricians when I was pregnant. I heard wonderful things about summerwood from many people and decided to choose them. I ran into a couple of problems over my son's first year with visits there but nothing that required me to pull him from the practice. Until he turned 1. One day he woke up really sick and his stool was bright green. I brought him into the dr. and they tested him for a virus. The results were positive that he had the virus but they told me it would have to "run it's course" so I didn't do anything because they didn't give me directions what to do. Over those 4 months he had loose stool diapers 10 times a day, he wasn't interested in eating - I thought he was allergic to milk because he was at the age that we were starting him on the regular milk. He was referred to an allergy specialist - no allergy, they said he must be lactose intolerant. So I went from formula for awhile - still loose stool, went to soy milk - still loose stool, everything I tried he still had it. This went on for 5 months!!! I was going through diapers like crazy, trying all sorts of things.... finally he was referred to a gastroenterologist. First thing she said - I see he was tested positive in apr for cdef, was he treated? I said no - they told me it would go away on it's own. She said no - he needed a med to get rid of it. I get the med - all of a sudden 5 months of loose stool - GONE! I would not recommend summerwood to anyone.. ever... period.

I had a similar experience going to Summer wood, and I have a hunch as to the reasons why they treat clients badly on the third visit. My experience sounds exactly the same as the first review. I would like to talk to the person whom made the first review. Please contact me at cchrishefish@msn I believe the type of insurance you may have plays a role in how you are treated.

I left Summerwood Pediatrics shortly after my second visit with my new daughter. It took a very short time to discover how horrible the nurses are and the lack of communication between all of the staff. They constantly contradicted one another and their billing department is terrible. I am still getting a bill for over $300 because they cannot manage to bill the correct policy number. I even had my insurance company contact them twice, to no avail. If you call, don't expect to get a live person or even a call back for more than 3 days!!! The office appears scary & institutional to children as you can tell when you see the kids in fear when they through the door. I have switched to a great practice on Rte 57 in Liverpool. They are very accommodating, knowledgeable, and have a much more inviting environment for kids. Our favorite Dr. so far is Vito Losito. Thankfully our daughter is a little over 1 year now and has had absolutely no problems, but I feel very secure in my decision to get her the hell out of Summerwood.
