This is the worst Doctor/Surgeon that I have ever experienced. I met him at San Francisco General Hospital where I had to consult for surgery for metastatic thyroid cancer.
Dr. William Schecter left me with permanent nerve damage to my face and shoulder/arm and did not
make one note of the problem or explain to me what had happened. When I asked him how long the
pain in my neck and shoulder would last, his reply was that he once pulled a groin muscle while working out and it took ten months to heal.
I found out from a Cancer Specialist a few months later that I was permenantly injured.
He went out of his way to patronize me, holding my hand and telling me what a great surgeon he is
and how he has never cut a nerve intentionally. He promised me that he would do the absolute best for me.
My surgery was postponed three hours into the afternoon. In the recovery room, as I had trouble breathing and felt quite ill, the recovery nurse actually asked me if my collar bone was real or plastic surgery.
The trauma nurse in the ward I was sent to would not respond when I had trouble breathing and the intern
shrugged her shoulders later and agreed the nursed there at SFGH were not up to standard.
When Dr. Schecter came in the morning his response to my physical complaints were "well you look good"
His associate Dr Campbell responded to my physical complaints as "when you get up to walk, make sure you put a gown on the front and back so you don't put on a show for everyone.
There was no respect or compassion at San Francisco General. And I can only wonder how many others
there are beside myself.
P.S. He didn't remove all the cancer either.....Denying access to proper diagnosis will surely keep this
surgeon's schedule full.
