Truly an amazing doctor: kind; compassionate; always on time; very responsive to patient concerns; an unyielding determination to help improve a patient's quality of life; intelligent and keeps current on studies, medications, and alternative medications and treatments; believes in second opinions; well-connected to other specialists and frequently refers patients to other specialists who may be of benefit.

I became a patient of Dr. Zashin's in 2004. I had autoimmune symptoms beginning as far back as 1998. Since then, I've seen countless specialists. None have compared to Dr. Zashin. You leave his office knowing you've been heard, that he is working his hardest to find answers, and probably most important, you leave his office with hope.

Dr. Zashin is a brilliant clinician who was able to tease out a diagnosis that is rare in the South. Numerous competent specialists had been unable to diagnose my disease over several years. So, I was headed to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I suspected that my problem was cold mediated and Minnesota doctors should be cold experts. Knowing Dr. Zashin, my wife suggested I see him first. After conducting a thorough initial exam, Zashin trotted in with medical books and color printouts that supported his working diagnosis. He recommended follow-up with another specialist to confirm the diagnosis. Not only was Zashin spot on, so was my wife??s suggestion.

He listens to you and takes the time necessary to understand your concerns. Not cheap but a doctor that takes time with you cannot afford to be.
Staff is top notch,also.

As a primary care physician myself, I have referred patients to Dr Zashin over the last 19 years. My mother has also received care and advice from Dr. Zashin. He is a great diagnostician, and the care he has provided to my patients has been superior without exception. He has made complex diagnoses that were missed by other doctors in the area. In addition to his excellent credentials he is extremely caring and compassionate. During my 20 years in private practice, he and his office staff have received more compliments from my patients than any other specialist in the metroplex. He is a rare find

I wouldn't go to this guy. He ignored me and let me suffer with R.A for three years. None of the drugs worked-of course he said I was not adavanced to be on Enbrel or Humira. Guess what-due to his lack of investigation I had to have hip surgery-because he didn't take me seriously!

Business Response:

Dr. Scott Zashin Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and analgesics are indicated to help relieve hip pain due to osteoarthritis. Hip surgery is indicated when these medications are no longer effective in controlling a patients symptoms. Unfortunately the,TNF blockers Enbrel or Humira do not help relieve the pain from osteoarthritis of hips. In addition,Enbrel and Humira may be associated with the potential for patients to develop serious side effects. As a result, it is always very important to balance the benefit of prescribing a specific drug versus the risk for potential complications that can occur from that medication. In the case of hip osteoarthritis, Enbrel and Humira are not recommended to treat this type of arthritis because they do not help and may cause serious side effects. I am a former nurse/office manager, who has spent over 35+ years working in physicians' offices as a nurse, patient/physician liason and office manager, as well as being an instructor for medical assistants entering the healthcare field. Few physicians remember the "care" part of health care, which includes having a staff whose main objective is to realize that working in a health care setting is more than "just a job." Patients deserve superior treatment from the time they make the initial phone call to the physician's office. This has consistently been my experience during the eleven years under Dr. Scott Zashin's care.Dr. Zashin, exemplifies the standard of care that is lacking in most medical settings today. His staff has been with him long-term. This is one of the indicators of a well-run office. In addition, if running behind, Dr. Zashin, frequently pops into the treatment room to reassure the patient that he will be coming in to see them within a few minutes. Conversely, patients respect their physician's time, and make an effort to be prompt. In the 11 years I have been a patient, he has rarely seemed rushed or harried, and always finds a "spot" for me the same day if I need to see him. "Dr. Z" is more than my Rheumatologist. He is caring, concerned, and will often check in on patients over the weekend if he knows they are having difficulties/flares or to discuss a treatment plan, labs or other issues.I feel so fortunate to have him and his staff caring for me. Although he is not on my health insurance plan, knowing that I have the utmost confidence in his ability and expertise far outweighs the insurance hassles.I would travel great distances if I did not reside locally to seek his counsel and care.lwd

Medical clerk promised to provide out of pocket cost which she failed to do. At the end of the clinic visit I was charged $800.00 for the hour visit. Dr asked if I wanted labs and x-rays done at his office or downstairs. But, he failed to tell me that there was a cost difference. The x-rays on the knees were mistakenly reversed, which I explained to the doctor. I went in for a second opinion. I basically was charged $800.00 for the doctor to tell me to lose weight. I thought he would be good since he was named best in Dallas. That worthless clinic visit cost me $800.00.

Business Response:

Scott Zashin MD Comments from patients are always appreciated. While confidentiality precludes me from discussing specific information about my patients, it is the policy of our office to offer and provide information on out of network benefits to all patients prior to their initial appointment. Most patients take advantage of this service. In addition,so as to save patients extra expense, the patient has the option of having x-rays done at a facility that participates with their insurance plan. Many patients elect to have the x-rays done in my office for convenience.

I have known Dr. Zashin for over ten years, and have sent many aching, unhappy friends to him for relief of their arthritis symptoms. They, too, sing his praises. The only down thing is the insurance crisis, but his office went out of their way to provide me the correct info for my medical company. Most efficient office I have ever been in-absolutely would recommend his services to anyone.

Dr. Zashin is not on my insurance either, but it's hard to turn away an excellent doctor. His office is efficient and generally caring. My first visit was detailed, compassionate, and on-target. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which is difficult to treat so discouraging. However, Dr. Zashin is persistent and instills hope. Dr. Zashin is the kind of doctor who actually remembers his patients and will call them personally if he has thought of a new way to attack a problem. He stays completely educated with regard to the illnesses he treats. I do wish Dr. Zashin could take a few more minutes in a follow up visit to help me to really understand the full nature of the illness, what test results mean, and what to expect long term. However, he is the best doctor I have ever seen . . . and unfortunately, there have been many.

Pros: Validates parking :-), great diagnostician, doesn't dismiss your own knowledge about your body

Cons: it's fantastic that he's not condescending, but remembering that chronic illness can be overwhelming he might explain better

Although Dr. Zashin was not on my insurance plan, I felt the personal attention and thoroughness of his evaluation was worth the extra cost. My visit was scheduled quickly and there was no waiting when it came my appointment time. Dr. Zashin called me personally with my results and explained things so I was able to understand them. I look forward to visiting the office again to follow up on my arthritis.
