.

The doctors at Papago Pediatric have been our child??s physicians since she was in the womb. They have always been exceptional doctors who were gracious, helpful, and comforting. And in the past, the nurses were exceptional too, making the parents feel welcome with great attention paid to our child.
HOWEVER, unfortunately, the doctor is only as good as their nurse?
Without going into great detail, this is what the new nurse ??Sara? said to me in front of my child:
??If you wouldn??t have waited two weeks to bring her in then we would have had time to see her.? (We told Nurse Sara numerous times that the condition was less than a week old and only became a problem over the last day).?
??Then Nurse Sara said, ??You are obviously a negligent parent for waiting so long to bring her in. Why don??t you just give her Benadryl like I told you to over the phone.?
Then she said, ??You came in here yelling and screaming and you expect me to allow you to see the Doctor!?? ?I came in very meek, saying please and thank you, I was humble because we already experienced Nurse Sara??s wrath over the phone. But we were somewhat desperate to have our child seen and we were very concerned about her medical problem and were just trying to get her medical attention from our Child??s doctor. It??s seems to me that Nurse Sara was ready for a fight, especially because we were not comfortable just giving our child Benadryl as she had directed over the phone.
By this time I was fuming. I was just accused of being a negligent, irresponsible parent whose child was not important enough to be seen by the doctor, all in front of my child! Of course we were forced to go to an emergency medical care center that caused us to spend money we didn??t have.
In the end, we felt scolded, belittled, unimportant and dissed.
Funny thing, the Doctor we did end up seeing at the emergency care, DID NOT PRESCRIBE BENADRYL. I guess one must learn to be wary of Nurses whose egos are so large that they feel they can diagnose as effectively as a real doctor.
The sad part is that our child loved these doctors. They are the only doctors our child has ever known. But thanks to Nurse Sara, we no longer feel welcome at Papago Pediatric and unless apologized too, we will never take our child there again.
