Dr. Das has been my physician for 2 years and has successfully helpd me manage my diabetes. Altough the wait is sometimes hours, I bring a book or take a walk through the residential neighborhood. Why ? Because he always spends a lot of time educating and supporting me. He returns phone calls quickly. He has a nurse who does BP, glucose testing, weight and review of meds and current concerns and often a diabetes educator or nutritionist is in the waiting room to discuss diet, exercise and medications. Patients that I have met say he has been in the ER and hospital for them at any hour. It is easy to get follow-up appointments, the staff is friendly, and Dr. Das is a physican that cares and shares his readings and research with you at every visit -

I have seen Dr. Das for the last 3 years, having had many visits. He is one of the mos caring, dedicated MDs I have ever had. My Diabetes was truly out of control prior to seeing him. He worked very closely with me to not only get my Diabetes to a point where it is now very much under control, with a HA1C1 of under 6.0, but also went into great effort to assist me with my Hypertension, Sleep Apnea, Cardiac issues as well. He is always concerned, caring beyond measure & gives me so much time in his office ( and appointments at a moments notice) that I feel like he is my own private doctor at times (in spite of the large overflow of others waiting to see him at his office, no matter when you go.) He puts in 14 to 17 hour days, then visits any of his regulars that happen to be in the hospital (mostly around 1am.) He has come to check on me twice in the hospital after surgeries that had nothing to do with my Diabetes. I have now made him, also, my primary care physician, proudly. He never turns away anybody, which of course has to result in long waits to see him. Something has to give and people who sit there and complain about the really long waits in his office, some of whom become rude to him & his staff, still would not, for even a second, consider going to anybody else! If I could start a fan club, I would as I do not know a finer doctor (& I have seen plenty with all my medical problems.) If they were all like him, Our medical system would be much better than it is.

I had read pretty good reviews on Dr. Das online so I choose to go see him. I also read his waiting time was quite extensive. This could mean he overbooks or he takes time with patients so I decided to judge for myself. I got to his office for a 4pm appt. Yes I was called at 8pm. Yes his office is not the prettiest but he is moving to a nice building next door soon and I found his staff to be quite nice. Sometimes you cannot judge a book by his cover. The waiting room was filled with people who had waited quite some time but his long time patients all raved about what an excellent doctor he was and the new ones, like me stuck it out or saw his associate. I choose to sit and wait to see the DR. DAS who I waited forever to get an appt with in the first place.
He is a very pleasant person. He was VERY nice. He listened to all my complaints and to my " self diagnosis" too without laughing or acting as if he knew better as other physcians have done in the past few months and he agreed to test for various " possibilities" including the ones I thought I might have. I see one of the reasons you wait so long is because he takes his time which is good because now adays these doctors see you for five minutes and send you on your merry way.
So I will see Dr. Das again. I will go a bit later and maybe grab some dinner and then come back but I did think he was worth the wait!
As for one review here about the dismissed " thyroid" , I have had thyroid blood testing dismissed by other doctors yet he actually checked my thyroid and felt a nodule and also noticed the rise in my level from jan of this year to now since i had collected all my blood work and taken it with me.

I had seen Dr. Das on more than one occassion and he is a horrible practioner. He does not listen to the complaints of the patients, and just yes's them and writes out prescriptions without listening. His office is deplorable, and unsanitary. The office manager and nurse are nasty, and not helpful. Dr. Das is a patient factory, and has a patient every 5-10 minutes scheduled! You can find better treatment in a nazi warcamp

Dr. Das is one of only a few endocrinologists in Staten Island. I am not impressed with his decision making skills. The Dr. takes too lighly results that should be observed more seriously. he has dismissed a neighbor of mine who has multiple signs and symptoms of a hypoactive thyroid. She has hair and nails that are thinning,is sluggish, has weight gain and an enlarged thyroid. Just because her thyroid levels on a blood test are slightly abnormal he dismissed her. He has not given a second thought to the slightly abnormal levels. I have seen people have levels that presented slightly abnormal and further testing proved not in vain. Now I have to try to find a second opinion for her. This takes considerable work. He should be more thorough!!!
