.

March 14, 2001 I underwent the THIRD Bladder Neck Incision operation to open me up because of complications from the THREE FAILED TRANSURETHRAL RESECTIONS OF MY PROSATE Done by MANISH SHAH in 2006---His first operation made me WORSE than I was, second one put me back to where I had been and number 3 did nothing at all. I had been assured that a TURP was DEFINITIVE THERAPY for my enlarged prostate. The damaget hat I BELIEVE he caused is permanent and life altering.....the last operation I had to open me up again (THANK GOD IN BIRMINGHAM) is only a temporary remedy--the first one came one year after Dr Shah's (I BELIEVE INFERIOR) work, the next one two years after that and the most recent only 15 months after number two. My advice? NEVER SET FOOT NEAR CLINICAL UROLOGY ASSOCIATES in Gadsden, Ft Payne or BOAZ and if you HAVE to visit tht practice NEVER let MANISH SHAH be involved in you cafre in any way. For the rest of my life I will live to REGRET I ever trusted him with my well being....

After calling the office, I was informed that Dr. Shah was on call for my doctor, but I would have to travel to Gadsden, AL to receive treatment. I was seen at Gadsden Regional in the E.R. by Dr. Shah. In order to take care of this he would place shunts into my penis, introduce a medication, and then flush out the blood that caused the prolonged erection. I had this done before by Dr. Wade, and had little pain, and was seen at the hospital in Boaz where I live. Dr. Wade was very compationate and made sure the pain level was controled. Dr. Shah on the other hand didn't use any injections to help control the pain, and placed the shunts into my penis without anything to numb it. I thought I was in pain from the priapism, but I thought I was dying by the time Dr. Shah started. He acted like I was putting on about the pain. The procedure was done in the E.R., and I was seated in a large puddle of my own blood, which I felt running out of the shunt and down my legs. In short I wouldn't recommend this doctor as a vet, must less to a friend. I have the utmost trust in his partners, but this is one doctor that I will refuse to see under ANY & ALL circumstances! He does take my BCBS insurance and co-pay, but I was tortured for my payment. My suggestion is STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR!!!

My advice is to avoid this urologist ! I first had a failed prostate microwaving then followed by THREE failed TURP prostate operations. He billed them as "definitive" therapy to me and asured me that sexual sensation would "feel the same." He lied--
I had major problems some of which were fixed by other surgery and some will be life long. He offered NO HELP after they occured and first misdiagnosed one thing that resulted in unnecessary weeks of pain. He did not verify that I was numb before beginning his first operation and I felt the instruments go in me and the cutting begin. He used insulting language about my physical condition in the presence of his female nurse. When a friend of mine had prostate cancer, he did NOT give him all the surgical options, including robotic, because he did not then do that procedure and would have lost a surgical fee. The guy went to B'ham and had that procedure there. SInce our area got a "robot"- now his practice sings the praises of the advantages of that surgery.Know that what happened to me could happen to you!

Pros: NONE

Cons: MANY !!!!

It is my opinion that what I thought was confidence might have simply been arrogance and I think I perhaps mistook rhetoric for knowledge. My outcome was awful and I ended worse than when I went in..I never had sexual probelms before the operations and now have on-going ones from those operations confirmed by one of the country's top reseacher/urologists.... Do I think Dr. Shah INTENTIONALLY caused my problems-- absolutely NOT-- but they DID happen.

I had to have surgery by others to fix part of what resulted from his three failed TURP operations and other damage will be life long. He used insulting language to me in the presence of his female nurse, who was later my student. He never bothered to wear a surgical mask at any of the THREE failed operations he did on me.(see photo) When I went to UAB for follow-up transurethral surgery, EVERONE who came in the O.R. had on a mask, including the two surgeons who worked on me.Before the TURP operations, I had a FAILED THERMATRX prostate miscowaving procedure he told me worked on 90% of patients. It did nothing for me and another urologist at a different practice told me the rate he stated to patients was only about 60% sucess.

He demeaned two physicians to me, including one is his own building. He did nothing to help me find help elsewhere and never said he was sorry for my bad outcome, which he could have done without admitting any responsibility for any of the problems.

Know that what hapened to me could happen to you. I filed charges and went to court on all this-- a first in my life.
