DO NOT USE THE DOCTOR!!!!
I wish I had read these reviews before I went. I read each review today after coming home for his office in tears... one after another sounded just like my experience. I had been on a 3 month wait list for another DR.... I was in pain and this Doctor had a next day app. I am a cash pay patient. I paid over $700.00 for the first visit for blood work and x-rays. The Doctor was Rude, careless, didn't listen, didn't even look my hands. He insisted I take steroids, I told him I had already taken them and they didn't help. I asked for meds for pain he told me to take meds that I am allergic to. Foolishly I went against my better judgment I went back. I was hoping for answers and pain relief. Today he recommended steroid injection in my hand for trigger finger. It was the worst pain. I called 4 hours later and side my had was stuck in a fist and I was writhing in pain he told my to take advil ... again told him I allergic to it... he argued with me said I wrong, just to take it. Then said he told me it would hurt, I agreed to have the treatment so I'd have to deal with it and hung up on me!! I

This guy must have gotten his degrees in a Cracker Jacks Box because he is the most unknowledgeable doctor I have ever come across. He is arrogant, rude, doesn't listen, mocks me and interrupts when I try to speak. Completely flip-flopped on what he told me each of the 3 times I saw him. He told me I have severe RA, then RA and OA and he said there is nothing wrong with me and I need a psychiatrist. After insisting on repeating ALL of my x-rays in his office and then insisting that I have more blood tests, he told me that blood work is unable to diagnose or determining RA, OA, or Fibro. He did not give me the results of my blood work even after I asked for them.

My experiences with Dr. Sheikh were very negative. Upon my first visit, I had to wait almost 2 hours to actually be seen by the doctor himself, and then my appointment was very rushed. During that time, the doctor ridiculed me for having several drug allergies, by asking if I get what? a little rash? When I told him I go into anaphylactic shock, he just smirked as if I made it up. He told me I did not have R.A. and that 6 different rheumatologists will tell me 6 different things.
My first impression of his office was that the equipment was very old and outdated. Also, I noted dust along the walls/baseboards, and cobwebs behind the examining table. His entire office needs new carpeting, new equipment.
My husband accompanied me on my second visit. He could not believe what I told him about Dr. Sheikh. He thought we should give him a second chance. He said we should overlook things if we find a good doctor. He changed his opinion after this visit. Dr. Sheikh spoke over us, told me that he had no idea what is wrong with me, yet he wrote 3 prescriptions for me that day. 2 of the prescriptions were for drugs that I specifically listed as having allergic reactions to, which was very upsetting. What if I took these meds in total faith? I would've ended up in the E.R.! He told me after I pointed out that I am allergic to these meds to take them anyway and come back in 3 weeks. He also wanted me to take a higher dose of steroids for 3 weeks and then stop them without tapering off. That can also be fatal. I truly feel sorry for seniors who trust this man implicitly with their healthcare. He could actually cause their demise!
This man is a frightening example of medical care! I would not recommend him to anyone. As a matter of fact, I will make a point of telling anyone looking for a rheumatologist to avoid this man and go see Dr Sanjay Kapil.

I went to this 'Dr", because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired for 9 years off and on. He was rude, could care less what I had to say, interrupted me over and over again, the place was nasty, and they charged me full price for the consult-even though I have insurance they accept! Not to mention his rude office staff who could care less about the patients they deal with. The red flag should have been that I was able to get an immediate appointment for the following morning -and I was a new patient! Obviously patients dont tend to stick around with this fraud! He dismissed me as having chronic fatigue syndrome and suggested I 'stop wasting my time and money going to doctors because there's nothing wrong with me.' well, i found a GOOD Dr, who DID find MANY things wrong with me, and is aggressively treating me. DO NOT SEE THIS 'DR'!!! I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY REIMBURSEMENT!! This man is an uncompassionate imbecile, and is going to seriously hurt or kill someone..BEWARE!!!

Dr. J. Sheikh is the WORST doctor I have ever visited! Run, do not walk, from Orlando Arthritis Institute! The office is filthy, the front desk staff is ignorant, the office manager a pig, the nurse staff is seriously scary as they FAIL to record your health records correctly and the doctor is beyond belief! He is rude, over talks you, ridicules you, interrupts you, is dirty and does not deserve to practice in this country! BUT THE WORST IS THAT YOU WILL WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT! Be prepared to wait a min of 1.5 hours PAST your appointed time! One day I waited THREE HOURS PAST MY APPOINTMENT TIME!
The nurse care is just as poor and if you must leave a urine sample you are sent into the waiting room to do so - there is no privacy and you must walk into and out of a bathroom in the waiting room with a cup of urine in your hands.
The office mgr is suppose to precontact your insurance company in order to correctly collect co-payments but be warned! They just pick a dollar value and force you to pay it if you want to see the doctor.
In summary, I have never seen such a poor excuse of a medical practice! This office needs to be investigated and shut down! I feel sorry for the elderly of our community who must put up with this type of sub standard medical care! This is a foreign doctor who thinks he can practice using techniques learned in a cave! Do NOT put your health or your life at risk with Dr. (?) Javaid Sheikh of Orlando Arthritis Institute!

First appt. was horrible! Had some front desk clerk who could not spell words like 'road' or 'house'! Office manager could not get up off her butt to help determine what my co-pay was, although I knew it was $35! When she finally came out 1 hour later she said it was $395!! Then said if I did not want to pay that I could just leave...and I have TWO insurance companies which this dr. participates in! Then be prepared to wait a MINIMUM of 1.5 PLUS hours PAST your appointment time! Only to find assistants that can't speak English and record your medical history incorrectly! The doctor is just as bad. He gets up and leaves in the middle of your appt, in the middle of conversations for who knows why. Then he talks right over you, never allowing you to discuss your problems. The office is dirty and gross and stinks. Urine samples must be taken in the waiting room restroom for everyone to see. Then again you wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. Second appt. was worse! Waited close to three hours to see the doctor. Then non English speaking assistant had all my current medications recorded wrong! That's when I walked out and demanded my money back. I was refunded the overcollected co-pay four weeks later, along with the co-pay paid when I waited three hours to see the goof ball doctor..who is no better at speaking English than 90% of his staff. So if you really care about your health care DON'T USE THIS DOCTOR! Save the frustration, your money, your temper, and just maybe your own life! This doctor is a pig! And his staff are idiots who can't spell or speak English!

My husband went to Dr Sheikh's office for a while and the doctor himself was fine. Not the most friendly, but professional and thorough. But oddly, every time my husband went, the nurses and staff seemed to be "on edge" as if they were afraid of Dr Sheikh? It was a bit unnerving to my hubby so he changed doctors. But the quality of care was always good.

This is by far the worst practice I have ever experienced (and I have been to my fair share of doctors since being diagnosed). Dr. S. is DEFINITELY on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to bedside manner. He had me diagnosed and practically on death's door 20 minutes after meeting me (and performing NO tests of any kind, strictly through my answers to questions and his manipulation of my limbs). During one appointment, I posed a question to him about something I had read on the internet about my condition and he proceeded to shake his finger in my face and tell me to stay away from the computer and only listen to him (in a very mean spirited tone). While I dont need a doctor to be all warm and fuzzy, I dont wish them to be meaner than a snake either - which is what he was.

Pros: easy to get appointment (no patient stays with him apparently)

Cons: you name it !!!

Dr Shiekh is the best arthritis/gout Doc I've seen. He understands the disease and how to make you feel better. He quiet and straight to the point. His office is not located in the most accessible spot and it is not going to win the office design of the year award. However, if you looking for relief from your pain and do not need to be cuddled, see Dr S.

This was the worst doctor's appointment ever. Everything from the office staff, cleanliness of the facility, and the doctor's lack of compassion was terrible. Dr. Sheikh seemed uninterested in my extensive health history, rushed, and annoyed when asked to clarify his conclusions. Conclusions that were based on minimal conversation and very little tests. He appeared defensive when I asked questions and immediately told me I could go somewhere else for another opinion if I'd like. Which I did.
