My son had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Smithey. I was given his name on a referral website that I have at my work. I loved Doctor Smithey and felt he did a great job. He was very thorough at explaining the procedure and had a great demeanor and personality. His nurses after the procedure were very nurturing and caring and professional. The only thing about the entire process that was negative was having to deal with Lisa his insurance representative. I found her very insulting and abrasive. She had told me that I needed to bring in a printed document that explained what portion my insurance company would pay. I faxed the claim to my insurance company and printed a document that explained what portion would be paid by them and what portion I would be responsible for paying. Lisa gave me a hard time about the document and was still requesting half of the total amount of the procedure to be paid up front. I was not at all happy about having to front the money since I had a printed the breakdown of the portion my insurance company would pay. After a much heated debate she finally allowed me to just pay the portion that the insurance company designated as my portion. She did make a harsh comment to me about how if the insurance company did not pay that amount that was stated that I would still be liable. She was very insulting and I felt like she was insinuating that I was not responsible and a dead beat that would run out on the responsibility of paying my medical bills. I have never been treated so poorly in a medical office. I would recommend Dr. Smithey as an oral surgeon but not if you have to deal with Lisa the Insurance rep. She might be good at what she does but I would certainly not have her customer facing at all?.and would make sure her office was far away from any patients and the front desk. I would not want her representing my business at all. I felt like the rest of the staff was completely friendly and professional. But you know what they say?.one bad apple?..

My husband and I both had wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Smithey, a year apart. He and his staff were very pleasant and we were offered several different options for anesthesia. The procedures went smoothly and we had no problems. If you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of needing oral surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Smithey.
