I am a member of Consumer Reports survey board. Last month I was asked to rate my PCP. They asked a series of questions to find out how thorough and in-depth my exams/appointments are and about the quality of the care I have received. Even before this survey, I knew Dr. Shemer was good at his job. But, he scored in the highest bracket in both areas.

Everything they asked if my PCP did during an exam, to be in-depth, Dr. Shemer does. He takes time to talk to me, ask about things and really try to give the best diagnosis/opinion. He is not afraid to recommend other specialists or have tests performed. He wants his patients to be well.

He also talks to a patient to get an idea of their emotional health, as well. He asks about my job, family and my hobbies. I think a lot of MDs miss that aspect of well-being. Dr. Shemer does not.

He also recommended several of the other doctors that I go to now for other reasons-like my podiatrist and my ob-gyn. They are all people I fell also do a solid job like Doc Shemer. I have never been so satisfied with my health care, as a whole.
The best is that I never have to wait! I went to a female doctor in Beaver that had an average wait time for appointments of 2 hours +. I felt my time and activities were not respected or my time was not as important as hers was. I have never waited more than 10 minutes in Dr. Shemer's waiting room and 10 minutes in the examining room. I feel that is just another way he takes care of his patients.

Also, his staff is respectful and efficient. Every time I have had a problem, needed insurance dealt with or refills on prescriptions, they were right at the other end of the phone getting the needed info and taking action. That is very comforting.

Overall, I think Dr. Shemer is a great physician. If you need a new PCP, check him out for yourself. He is one in a million. Even my mom likes him, and that is saying something!

PROS: easy to schedule appointment, thorough, short wait time, great staff
CONS: none
