.

I have been a "patient" of Dr. Smith's since moving here 2 1/2 years ago and have only met Dr. Smith once. That meeting occurred only because I had previously received treatment from the PA that did not work and I had to demand to see Dr. Smith to get the problem rectified. He then sent me to see another doctor.

Recently we arrived back from Africa where my wife had fallen quite sick and had already been through two rounds of antibiotics by the time of our return. I asked for an appointment with the doctor and we were given the Nurse Practitioner. She prescribed a cocktail of meds and the mix made my wife violently ill. She was teaching at school, vommitting all afternoon, and wanted to die.

When we called and explicitly asked for Dr. Smith to discuss the issue, we were called back by the Nurse Practitioner who's counsel was simply to take the meds again, only spaced out so we could figure out which ones impacted her the worst.

My wife of course refused and now we are trying to get her lab results sent elswhere for follow-up.

In all, the people at the office have always been nice, but the quality service is excpetionally poor. You pay for a doctor and often never see one. (I wonder if he even goes to the office at all some days?) He is accepting work he cannot handle and rather than getting another doctor in the office, he farms the work out to less qualified staff. Very poor practice.
