My kids have been patients at SW Peds for 4 years. The office staff is friendly and helpful. They will always try to get you in when you need to be seen by a doc right away. The nurses are awesome. All of the doctors are excellent. Dr. Hineline always does a wonderful job of explaining the causes and the treatments of my kids' illnesses. She has a wonderful bedside manner and is really patient.

I have been taking my sons to Southwest Pediatrics for almost 4 years now. I was high risk with my first pregnancy and delivered at Swedish. Dr. Hineline took the time to come up to the hospital to exmamine him at just a day old. My second son is considered medically needy and spends much of his time at Children's. She is very on top of things with him and is willing to explain the details to understanding. She and the nurses are always willing to answer questions and take phone calls. She never pushes you to make decisions regarding the health of your children and encourages you to do what is within your comfort level. The office always finds a way to squeeze you in when you need to see a Doctor right away. I recently moved to Marysville and make the 100+ mile trip to see her and would not have either of my children seen by anyone else!

All the Doctors, Office Staff, and Nurses are excellent!

I came from Greece almost 10 years ago with a 6 month old baby boy and a two and a half year old daughter. My first and major concern was to find a Doctor that I could trust, and the ordeal started. I must have visited more than five pediatricians at High Line hospital before I found SW Pediatrics and Dr. Dong. He just won my trust at first few minutes of the visit, as he took his time to listen to me and comprehend me too. You probably can't realize how frustrating can be to look for words that describe symptoms and diseases in another language, feeling that if you make a mistake your baby might pay for this... Dr. Dong is still our Dr. and he will be for as long as we can have him. He is the Dr. that will listen, he will explain his strategy, he will reevaluate a condition take in mind that you might cannot afford an expensive medicine and offer generic alternative. He is in touch with all the aspects that might concern me. Physical and mental development, kid's psychology, reactions, fears. Once you lay them down he will respond. He is just a great Doctor that honors his profession, loves kids, and kept my unconditional trust all these years. Five star Dr. unless there are more to be given.PS. Dr Elahi is my second option if our Dr. is not available highly recommended too...

I started bringing my son to sw ped. at first i was not impress with the place or the Dr. My dr wasn't avavailable one day so i was sent to Dr. Dong, and this is when my faith was restored in the place. Dr. Dong seem to be very caring and did all necessary steps to make sure my child had an ear infection before just looking in and saying "yep he has an ear infection, here is a prescription" My son did not like the routing in his here, but i appreciated the efforts. Dr. Dong is sensative is concerned about the entire family verses just the patient being seen. If it wasn't for me meeting Dr Dong, i probably would have taking my son some place else. I have hear the same comment from several random people. The one thing I don't like about the practice is the wait time, and the idea that if they get you in late it is okay, but if you are late to an appt. you will be asked to come back another day. Luckily I've only been threatened with reschedule. Respect for time goes both ways!

SW Pediatrics was recommended to me by the staff at Swedish Hospital after my 3rd child was born 19 months ago and they have been GREAT!!!! Our regular doctor is Dr. Elahi, he really takes the time to explain what is going on with your child and doesn't rush to have you shove medicine down their throat. My oldest child is deaf and the staff does everything that they can to accommodate his hearing loss. They have just been truly wonderful to my children, after going here I think it would be really difficult for me to find the same quality of care anywhere else. The whole staff is great, there usually isn't a long wait and what else can I say they are just GREAT!!!!

We see Dr. Kenneth Dong. Dr. Dong has been our son's pediatrician since he was a newborn. He helped us after we got the diagnoses of Autism at 18 months. Our son is now 5 1/2 and he is doing wonderfully. Without the support of our pediatrician, we might not have gotten him into early intervention. Yes, our son still has many of the Autistic traits, such as making loud/high pitched noises, limited eye contact, obsessive disorders, and general tantrums but he also has the ability to talk to those who are closest to him and we are so proud that he is now fully potty trained. We never thought he would do many of these things considering how prevalent the autism was. Dr. Kenneth Dong pointed us in the right direction when our son needed UDT surgery, the very best early intervention professionals, the Neurologist that made the diagnosis, and when he had surgery for Tonsil & Adenoid removal surgery. The doctors that Dr. Dong referred us to we of the HIGHEST quality. No matter what area of town we live in and how far we need to drive to get to him...we will be taking our son to see Dr. Dong until they kick us out!!

I have been going to SW Pediatrics my whole life, when I was born my mother chose Duncunson. Now that I am not seen as a patient there anymore because I am over 18 but I have a daughter and I take her there. They are amazing. I've rarely had long wait times. I've always felt that the nurses and other staff were nice. I wouldn't take my daughter ANYWHERE else.I would definitely recommend them.

I take my three children there and everyone is so wonderful with the children. Doctors, Administrative Staff, Nurses,-even other patients in the waiting room are so warm and inviting! I wouldn't take my children anywhere else.

I understand how scary it can be when an infant is sick, and how helpless you can feel. I am a mother of 2, a girl (7) and a boy (3). I do feel that the first reviewer is being unfair to the office staff and Dr. Heinlein.

First of all, Dr. Heinlein is highly skilled, knows definitively what she is doing and has an amazing bedside manner with both kids and parents. Because she is this good, she is highly sought after, and has a good sized client list.

Second of all, the admin staff at the front have been nothing but warm and friendly to me when I show up for my appointment. Unfortunately, I usually show up when I have a sick kid, which means a longer wait time, as sick kid appointments are sandwiched in throughout the day. Most importantly, I have never been turned away when my child was ill, never, and I have never felt like I was being rushed out the door.

Third of all, the nurses are incredible with kids. I know the first reviewer didn't say anything about the nursing staff, but they are so good, I felt they needed a mention as well.

I am not sure what this woman was expecting, but when you have a group of good doctors, everyone wants a piece of them. If her child was really so ill that (s)he needed to be seen right that very second, then she should have taken the baby to the emergency room.

Although I have had to wait in the office, that is not usually the case. The times I have had to wait were when the office was overflowing with sick kids. I have seen parents bring in kids with buttons stuck in noses, broken bones. -- the works. And I have been that parent with the sick kid that got squeezed in when the doctors were already double booked. If the people in the office ever seemed short, it was probably due to the fact that their phone never stops ringing and they have to listen to crying babies and whiny parents. Buck-up Buttercup. Quality care is worth the occasional wait. The crew here is great!

I have been going here for over 5 years and both of my boys have received the best care and they can always seem to fit us in. There are times when we have had to wait longer than I would have liked but to me I chalk it up to being really dedicated to your patients by spending so much time with them.

I totally disagree with the first review. On the first visit I was greated with an exceptional greeting. The office staff was very friendly and generally cared about us. We interviewed 3 other pediatricans before choosing Dr.Elahi and SW pediatrics. The staff alone was enough to choose SW pediatrics. I have never waited over 10 minutes for a room.

Also Dr. Elahi has excellent bedside manners. He explains everything he is doing or thinking and makes the parents feel like we got our time in.

I would definatly reccomend SW Pediatrics.

When my son was an infant, we also had three foster chilren. We chose Dr. Teresa Hineline at Southwest Pediatrics. In all fairness, Dr. Hineline is a good doctor. She was friendly, knowledgeable and great with the kids!

However, it seemed we never waited less than half an hour past our scheduled appointment time to see her! Any time you inquired with the office staff, you were not comforted or reassured, but rather treated poorly and made to feel bad for inquiring about the wait.

The last straw was when I had been waiting for over 45 minutes with a sick infant, and a toddler in tow, just to be told they had no idea when the doctor would actually see us. We immediatly transfered to Burien Family Medicine and have never again had that problem! Although we liked Dr. Hineline, transfering was a blessing in disguise, because Dr. John Olson turned out to be even better (see my review on Burien Family Medicine).

I wouldn't recommend SW Pediatrics, simply becuase anyone with a sick child needing a doctor should not have to go through the ordeal expected there!

PROS: good doctor
CONS: everything else - office staff, ridiculous wait times
