First impression:Receptionist called out first and last names of each patient in the waiting room in full earshot of others, no privacy. When I brought up HIPAA concerns to the receptionist, she became unfriendly. The M.D. is very very nice and spends plenty of time with the patient and though seemingly is listening will shift the focus to some special heart blood lab work that costs thousands of dollars but then points out to the patient that the patient will not have to pay for it. As to medications and continuity of care, the M.D. just prescribes medicines from pharma samples that will end up costing the patient lots more money because the medicine is not generic. In addition the M.D. has an in-office blood lab (separate billing to insurance) to collect blood work to be analyzed for heart data from a company in Boston that the M.D. seems to be affiliated with. Finally and interesting in and of itself, the office staff will also, after the H&P with the M.D. seemingly as a matter of routine, automatically schedule an in-office heart stress test even when an individuals does not have chest pain or other heart related justification and before the Boston Heart Blood work results are in. Several red flags came up for me. The one size fits all approach to medicine in this particular practice concerns me and I am not comfortable recommending.
