Amazing surgeon. I could not even see the "BIG E" on the chart because of cataracts from asthma drugs. Dr. Starr performed the surgery on one eye and I am now 20/20. It was only two or three days before I could see this well. No pain, down to earth, no gimmicks. Straight talk and all was explained up front. Too bad she is leaving Pinole for Berkeley. I will follow her to Berkeley. So do my children and my wife.

Terrible service - waited for 2 1/2 hours for a routine eye exam - husband waited 2 hours for his and finally left before exam. Contacted because VSP provider - 100% coverage for eye exam.When receptionist asked for my Blue Shield card "just for their records", I told her NOT to bill Blue Shield - her response was that oh no, only billing VSP. They not only they were paid by VSP for the office visit, but were also paid by Blue Shield (whom they billed because Dr Starr stated I had "dry eyes" and was I using eye drops - something I have have known about and been using for 10 years - $432 on her bill for that "diagnosis".

Totally unacceptable - something is wrong with not only her billing practices, but also office efficiency.

She is a great surgeon and I had little bruising and no pain. She was so kind and caring throughout the process and I know I was not an easy patient to deal with. She has a very competent staff who looke after her. That is a good sign too.
