My mother has been a patient of Dr. Surapaneni for over three years and I have to say that she is a terrible doctor and has a very unprofessional staff. Over the years I have had a situations where my mom was called by them and told she needed to come in for an appointment because they needed to see her at a specific day and time (no doubt to fill in their daily schedule) only to find out, after rearranging schedules to get there that they were too busy to see her. Not only did my mother get her appointment rescheduled, but she got a bunch of attitude from the doctors office manager when she complained.

I have also had to deal with my mother running out of particular medications because prescription refill requests from our pharmacies have been ignored and sat in an inbox for weeks. This is a situation that has occurred multiple times.

I take issue with her office staff because they can be very abrasive over the phone, that is when they bother to answer the phone at all during office hours. My experience has been that one out of two calls that I have ever made to her office during business hours gets picked up by answering machine.

I have suggested to my mother that she should find another doctor on a number of occasions, but she is old, set in her ways, doesn't like change and likes having a female doctor. She is also a firm believer in the old adage "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't."

The major issue that I have with Dr. Surapaneni herself is that during the three years that my mother was her patient she failed to catch a major issue, congestive heart failure, that nearly killed my mother and put her in the hospital a couple of weeks ago and the reason that she will have to have an urgent open heart surgery later this week. Now I know that no doctor can catch everything, but this is an issue that I have been told has been progressing over a long period of time and should have been caught. My mother has gone to her numerous times with all of the symptoms of congestive heart failure over a long period of time and she failed to catch it.

She failed miserably in my opinion and she is FIRED and will no longer be my mothers doctor. This of course is just one mans opinion, although the fact that she has been dropped by my mothers insurance company, who also want nothing to do with her, certainly says something about their opinion of the quality and professionalism of the service she and her staff provide.

If you are in need of a good doctor in the Cedar Park area, I strongly suggest that you should find someone other than Dr. Veena Surapaneni.

I was a patient for over five years. Went in for a complete check up before moving away from the area. I was scheduled for MRI's and mamogram. Received a call from her office telling me to consult
a Neurosurgeon for a result in the MRI showing a lesion on my brain.
She refused to speak with me on the phone to explain further.
She refused to have my bp medication refilled, although it had been less than six months since I was in to see her.
I am very disappointed in her.

I've been to see this physician quite a few times and have had nothing but the nicest visits. Front desk lady was nice as could be, and the doctor very attentive. Other reviews must be from ONE malingerer!

This doctor spent most of my visits talking about her mother, brother and her medical problems. When my BP was high she said it was no problem, when my blood sugar was over the safe limit, she said no problem.
When I went in with swollen abdomen from something I ate she pressed around a bit and said "maybe hernia". I had told her how it was swelling as though you were pumping up a ball. She just didn't listen. Sent me home with antibiotics which were NOT needed.
I found another doctor and Surapaneni won't release my records unless I pay $30.00 Doesn't sound ethical to me. She is a danger and I urge you to beware. She almost killed my friend with overdossage of blood pressure meds. In emergency room she was told the amt told to take by Surapaneni was way over the limit.
I would not even take my dog to her.

My experience with Dr. Surapaneni was negative on all counts. No written medical history, exam was rushed to get to the next patient, prescribes medication without explaining side effects, no backup doctor when she went on a trip, short-tempered front desk staff, medical record copies given with no identification on them, and a combative response when confronted. I subsequently found out that Dr. Surapaneni has been disciplined by the Texas Medical Board. Draw your own conclusions.

I got excellent care and so did my mother and husband. Dr. Surapaneni is an excellent doctor. Very caring and she told me there was nothing else she could do for my mother and referred her to an oncologist. She also referred my husband to a kidney specialist. She is very thorough in her examinations and asked all kinds of questions. I wouldn't hesitate for one second in referring someone to her.

You know how you dislike filling out those endless medical history forms the first time you see a doctor. Well, don't worry about it here--the only information they want from you is your insurance--no medical history whatsoever. Dr. Surapaneni, herself, only asked me a couple of questions.

The examining room was tiny and disheveled. Medical forms were interspersed with magazines. Examining apparatus was lying out on the counter. It appeared unhygienic. Indeed, Dr. Surapaneni kept playing with her hair--she seemed to be pulling it out and looking at it. I'll leave it to your imagination to decide what she was looking for.

Her exam was brief but did indicate irregularities. However, when I asked what could be causing my problem, and what could be done to further investigate, she had no suggestions and merely shrugged. Without going into details, my symptoms are such that they should not be ignored. I do not "baby" myself and DO know when something is amiss and needs to be addressed.

If my previous doctor in Dallas could not diagnose my condition, she would have either ordered some lab tests or referred me to someone who could investigate further.

Needless to say, I will NOT return.
