.

I called my family clinic one afternoon to get a second opinion on a carpal tunnel diagnosis from work. My regular MD was unavailable that same day so I got an appointment with Swearingen. I soon learned why he was available on such short notice. He came in and started asking questions- I attempted to tell him a story explaining when my issues started but he quickly cut me off and told me to answer the question. God forbid I take up an extra 2 minutes of his time with "unnecessary details". He asked what medications I was on (while he was looking at the list) and berated me when I failed to mention my IUD. He did some tests and confirmed carpal tunnel, said I would get a brace and strode out of the room. I got pretty much no info on what to do/expect, if I would be cured, etc, aside from a couple info sheets I could find online. The nurse fitted me for a brace- I had to ask her stuff he should have told me like how long to wear it, should I take medications? I don't know if he was having an exceptionally bad day, but I felt he was rude to me, and that I didn't get all the treatment I should have. Makes me wonder if he has regular patients who return to his care...
