I am 48yr old female and had been seeing Dr. Ostrom for 8yrs, noticed in last 3yrs she was trying to disuade me from having my annual mammogram. Oct 2012 I saw her for physical and to obtain my mammogram slip. She told me that because I'm under age 50 I only need my mammogram every OTHER yr. Having excellent insurance I was surprised she would advise this. I reminded her that the American Cancer Society suggest annual mammo's at age 40. Dr. Ostrom would not do an exam and started rambling on stats re: not performing a pap and exam. I asked her where she received her statistics from and asked her if it was from the U.S to which she did not respond. She asked me how many partners I had had in the past year. Thinking she was not going to do my pap I lied and told her five. Subsequently I did receive my papsmear and she had a blood test done testing me for everything under the sun. I explained to her that if she wasn't going to give me my mammogram slip I would find another dr. She gave me my mammo slip. I had my mammogram and was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer! I had a lumpectomy a few weeks later, they did clear the margins however I was a grade 3, which is aggressive. I also underwent radiation. I have spoken to Dr. Ostrom once since my appt with her and I told her that at one point someone will listen to her because she's the dr and that she and I both know if I had listened to her my prognosis would be quite different! She got quiet and stated that it's recommended...I interrupted her and yet again reminded her of the American Cancer Society's recommendations. If I had not been stubborn this woman could have potentially killed me! I have since found another Dr and I wouldn't return to Dr. Ostrom for even a strep culture! I find it difficult even calling her a doctor. Please beware of this Dr.!!

I LOVE Dr. Ostrom. She is the best doctor I have ever had. I have been seeing her since 2005. She listens to me and never puts me down when I don't follow through with her advice. There was a time that I didn't have health insurance. Dr. Ostrom would send me to a Lab that gave discounts. I also got a discount at her office as long as I paid the same day that she saw me. My friend is going to transfer to Dr. Ostrom because she hears all of the great reviews I give her. I also like that Dr. Ostrom frames and hangs the pictures that her two children draw/paint in the exam room. She is very down to earth yet very professional!!

I have been seeing Dr. Tara Ostrom for a few years and I do like her a lot. She's a young doctor with a new family and seems to have an invested interest in her patients. She's always easy to talk to. Her one drawback is that she went to USC and I'm a UCLA Bruin so we do have that one bone of contention. :)
