Dr. Karkare communicated very well with me and the extent and seriousness of my issues. She gave me the adequate time during the appointments (and there were many) and immediately had a game plan so I could start treatment with her ASAP! She has a kind carring manner as does her staff. she took a shamefull situation for me and displayed absolutely no judgemenal vibes. Dr. Karkare has completed all the work so far beyond satisfation..She gave ne back something I hadn't had in a very long time: "the ability to smile".

Initially, I had was asked to sit in a chair in a small room, but there was another chair in between me and the chair she MEANT for me to sit in. I didn't know where to sit and she didn't care to clarify or move the other chair out of my way. I had to ask which she meant.

Then, as she is having me bite down for the bitewing x-ray (for the 2 teeth that are in pain), she pushes a large piece of equipment into place which collides into the bitewing thing sticking out of my mouth, which my two sore teeth are clamped down on. : (

Here I am at a dentist appointment(that I waited a week in pain for) THINKING I am getting my teeth pulled, and I see a dentist for 5 minutes and get referred to an oral surgeon. The dentist herself was not even remotely helpful in discussing the issues with my teeth. She told me what I already knew basically and sent me on my way. She spoke to assistants about my teeth briefly in front of me (or behind me, I should say), but didn't bother to help me understand what was necessary or why. She also did not look in any detail at my other teeth which will also need work in the near future or set up any plan of getting my dental health in order. No plan of action or follow-up type instruction.

I was extremely disappointed and uncomfortable, especially with this being my first dental visit in 10 years(my first as an adult going alone).

Also, I purchased the Smile Plus discount dental plan THROUGH Coast Dental to USE it for the extractions I need. No I can't because I had to be freferred to an oral surgeon and their IN-HOUSE oral surgeon does not have any appointments open for about 3 weeks. I'll remind you that I am in PAIN now. ANd have been for 2 weeks. I cannot afford to miss work much longer.

Money and time are both huge issues right now and I feel like Dr. Karkare with Coast Dental wasted my time and made me even more uncomfortable with my dental issues than I already was.

On one positive note, I did not catch her name, but a tall blonde working in the receptionist area of the office was very helpful and nice. If the rest of my experience had matched her at all it would have been a great visit, whether they were able to pull my teeth that day or not.
