I chose to visit this clinic due to the convenience of their location and their walk in hours. I arrived at the clinic feeling horrible, sore throat, fever, I couldn't even swallow liquids! They were able to see me within a reasonable amount of time as a walk-in. I was diagnosed by a PA, Bruce Bair with tonsillitis. A medical assistant gave me 2 shots of antibiotics and had me wait to make sure I didn't have any reaction to it, they periodically checked on me to make sure I was doing well before I left the clinic. The staff were very kindhearted and concerned about my well being. I will come back to this Doctors office anytime I get sick.

I had to house sit for a family friend this weekend who had multiple animals. Come Sunday night, my allergies had reacted full blown to the animals. Monday morning I awoke and decided to go to The Family Doctor. They thankfully were open

My husband badly cut his hand one evening, and we rushed to the "compassionate" Family Doctor office, arriving about three minutes before the closing time of 7:00 p.m. I ran to the door, which was locked. The lights inside the building were off. I knocked on the door.

A young woman opened the door. I said, "My husband needs stitches. He's bleeding."

Her FIRST WORDS to me were, "We're closed. My clock says 7:00. I can't help you." She did not ask how he was, where he was, or if there was anything she could do to expedite getting some care for him.

When I called the office this morning about our concerns, and to get our medical records out of this place, this occurred:

1. I asked for Wanda Wilkinson. When the receptionist learned that Wanda "is not expecting my call," she put me through to voicemail.
2. I called back to ask for same, saying it was urgent. I was put through to Wanda Wilkinson.
3. I shared our concerns. Her first response was to explain that they run their office according to an "automated clock," and when that clock strikes, business is closed. You must be in the building by that time.
4. Then, she was somewhat apologetic that my opinion of our treatment was not favorable.

I understand that this is how they run their business. They are welcome to keep doing so, but we will not be sending our employees, our students, or our children here. We are collecting our medical records this week and finding another primary care physician.

Their website advertises "compassionate" care, but this is not what you'll find. The front office phone staff sounds annoyed from the outset, and they live by their automated clock and not by the realities of patient need. They are the least compassionate health care office I've experienced in my life. Chapel Hill can do better, and does. Find another place to get your health care.

The Family Doctor is a good alternative to going to your regular Dr. They take walk-in patients without a prior appointment. I was really pleased with my visit here. I have referred them to members of my family as well. You don't have to pay urgent care prices, just your normal co-pay.
