Dr. Munoz’s development as a holistic practitioner began by observation of his patients and their needs not being fully addressed by the conventional allopathic paradigm along with his teachers. More and more people requested a different approach due to side effects of some conventional treatments as well as their overall cost or lack of effectiveness. His initial self-education approach was replaced with a formal 2 year post doctoral fellowship in Integrative Medicine (2006-2008), taught by world class faculty at the prestigious Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, founded by Dr Andrew Weil.
Dr. Munoz was chosen as the first rheumatologist of the fellowship program to be trained in integrative medicine. He was hand selected as the first recipient of the Jones- Lovell Rheumatology Scholarship Award. He was nominated by his graduating class peers to give the graduation address at the 2008 Arizona Center Integrative Medicine Fellowship commencement ceremony.
