.

I got an appointment as a new patient the next week. Afternoons are busier.

This dentist uses white fillings only. These are maybe twice as expensive as silver -- mine cost about $240 each. They require a different filling technique than silver. One person recommended checking for accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (aacd.com). Hatch is not listed, but he'd better be good with them because that's all he does.

Hatch identified a lot more cavities than my prior dentist (of course I had a filling fall out without that dentist noticing a problem beforehand). He finds little cavities in the grooves on top of your teeth and shows them to you with a camera. My web research did not flag this as a scam and said these kind of cavities can develop quickly once they form.

Because of all the cavities that my prior dentist didn't flag, was worried about being sold to. They tried hard to get me to have a cleaning the same day. They started discussing which cavities I wanted filled after I was under the nitrous oxide. After I complained they turned the oxygen back on and they showed me the cavities on the camera.

The camera that shows you your mouth on a monitor is very cool. Hatch's technology is a step above my last dentist. He also has the best website in the area. He does not use that Diagnodent laser that is supposed to identify cavities.

He did notice my baby tooth on my x-ray and told me some stuff I didn't know about how the bone can recede under a baby tooth with no permanent tooth behind it, but mine was fine. He knew the oral surgeon who did my dental implant. Hatch has been in business in Reedsburg a long time.

Bottom line: seems pricy, but will use again.

Dr. Hatch and his staff are very experienced and friendly. They have state of the art equipment and are trained on the latest procedures in dental care. You don't feel like they are rushing through your dental care and take the time to answer your questions, give you options and don't pressure you to do procedures that aren't necessary.

They also are still accepting new patients.
