At first, Dr. Brown seemed to care about my neurological problems and appeared to sincerely want to help. However, after I downloaded some information from the internet to show him my list of symptoms he acted as though I insulted him. He said I can see your symptoms and I don't need to look at that material. I told him there are symptoms he hasn't seen but I circled them all on the 5 or 6 pages I printed. He said he would just put them in my file without looking at them. A few days later he sent me a certified letter stating that he will no longer see me as a patient and would not give me an appointment to see him. He offered no explanation. I can only assume I insulted him by giving him a list of my symptoms. To this day I cannot understand why. It seems that any doctor would appreciate being given a complete list of a patient's symptoms. Strange behavior, in my opinion. I gave him one star because the forum forced me to.

EDIT: It's interesting that Dr. Thomas J. Brown gave HIMSELF a 5-star rating while every patient posting so far rated him 1-star. In my opinon, this suggests an egomaniacal personality with no ethical, professional, or compassionate behavior to back it up.

To suggest that a 35 y/o pt who's MRI shows demyelination of white subcortical matter and such findings are due to OLD AGE...... is ridiculous!

His years of so called experience have clearly gone to his head.

Besides thinking 35 is old age when he is way past 75 himself, his demeanor was rude, tone unprofessional as if he was a know it all and he should not be questioned.

I just read the rebuttal Brown composed ....I feel what I said is confirmed once anyone reads his attempt to rebut the 4/14 comment.

I will say that I had no problem with his staff.....just Brown and his arrogance.

I would not go back and I am glad he is MIA....does the public justice.

Pros: Office close to home

Cons: Egotistical Narcissus

Dr. Brown hired my company - MediTask Medical Transcription Service - to do his medical transcription. He disappeared in January, and left us with a bill after we had transcribed and sent him all the work he dictated. This is very unprofessional. He is no where to be found, though I see that he did try to defend himself in July 2009 by responding to a post. I wish he would respond to mine: Dr. Brown, we did your transcription in good faith, and you owe us $567.93 for work transcribed for you in December 2008. I bet you billed your remaining patients - how about paying the company which made those patient reports available so you COULD pay?

Dr. Thomas J. Brown in San Antonio is a neurologist who has apparently closed shop and is MIA. As an epileptic and one of Dr. Brown's patients, I called to schedule a follow up appointment after Dr. Brown put me on a new medication. Much to my surprise, his number was disconnected and his office is vacant. How can this be legal? I am in a serious situation under his medical care and now I have no way of obtaining my medical records or discussing the side effects of the medication he prescribed. This is outrageous and warrants legal action if possible. One gold star for luck because he is going to need it!

Pros: LOCATION

Cons: LACK OF MEDICAL CONCERN AND COURTESY

.

Dr. Brown closed his office without any kind of notice to his patients and without any way for them to get their medical records. Not only is this extremely unprofessional but it is also illegal. Regardless of the circumstances of the closure, arrangements should have been made for medical record retrieval. His patients are left to fend for themselves - finding new doctors and trying to piece together their medical history while in his care. I was forced to give a rating on this, so I gave him one star, but he deserves none for this recent action alone.

I would like to address the acussations posted by jessand on 04/14/06. This review was brought to my attention by a patient looking for a Neurologist in the San Antonio area. He located my practice by another avenue. I am a Board Certified Neurologist with and excellent reputation for patient care. I employ an office staff which show exemplilary professional conduct. I and my staff are hurt by the comment. We spend many years of our lives to serve our patients. We are educated professionals. We did not dedicated our lives to our profession to mistreat people. As a matter of fact, we have years of training in human behavior and ethics for the sole purpose of caring for the infirmed . The fact that those with a political axe to grind can publish this material in a forum is a reality that we in healthcare must accept. We, however, we hope you look elsewhere for information concerning chosing a physician. Again, we are offended. If is fraud. Please see it for what it is.

SAW DR. BROWN AFTER MY SON HAD A SEIZURE SEP04. WITHOUT TESTING, HIS ONLY REASON FOR MY SON HAVING A SEIZURE WAS BECAUSE HE'S AUTISTIC. MY SON WAS 19 YRS OLD & NEVER HAD 1 BEFORE; I THOUGHT THAT DIAGNOSIS RATHER VAGUE BUT HE DID PRESCRIBE KEPPRA. LAST MONTH THE PRESCRIPTION RAN OUT & HE INSISTED HE HAD TO SEE HIM BEFORE HE WOULD REFILL (THIS AFTER HIS STAFF HUNG UP ON MY HUSBAND REFUSING TO TALK TO HIM). WHEN WE ARRIVED FOR THE APPT, DR. BROWN REFUSED TO SEE MY SON BECAUSE HE HAD MEDICAID IN ADDITION TO HIS REGULAR INSURANCE--DESPITE THE FACT WE WOULD NOT FILE MEDICAID--HE STILL REFUSED TO SEE HIM. I FOUND THE STAFF EXTREMELY RUDE & DR. BROWN LACKING NOT ONLY IN BEDSIDE MANNER BUT EVEN TO DO ANYTHING BUT TALK TO ME ABOUT MY SON--NO TESTING! DO NOT BOTHER WITH HIM!
